ORDINANCE NO. 70-117
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARSON APPROVING THE
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED
AS "STEVENSON VILLAGE TERRITORY" TO THE CITY OF CARSON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, proceedings were initiated for the annexation of certain inhabited
territory to the City of Carson; and
WHEREAS, said territory is now and has heretofore been designated as
"Stevenson Village Territory" and
WHEREAS, on the 20th day of October, 1969, the City Council of the City
of Carson did pass and adopt Resolution No. 69-125 calling a special election to be held on
the 13th day of January, 1970, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors residing
in said territory the question whether or not such territory should be annexed to, incorporated
in and made a part of the City of Carson; and
WHEREAS, said special election was duly held and conducted pursuant to law
in said territory on the 13th day of January, 1970; and
WHEREAS, on the 19th day of January, 1970, at the hour of 6:30 P.M., the
City Council of the City of Carson duly assembled at its usual place of meeting and did receive
from the City Clerk the certified canvass of the returns of said election; and
WHEREAS, a majority of the votes cast in said election were in favor of said
annexation;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON does
hereby approve the annexation to the City of Carson of said territory designated as "Stevenson
Village Territory" and described as follows:
"That parcel of land in the County of Los Angeles, State of California,
described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the southerly prolongation of the easterly
line of that certain parcel of land described in Document 984, recorded
April 27, 1966, in Book D3285, page 100 of Official Records, in the
office of the Recorder of said County, and the northerly boundary of the
City of Carson as same existed on October 1, 1968 (in Victoria Street);
thence westerly and northerly along said boundary line of the City of
Carson following the same in all of its courses to its intersection with the
boundary of the City of Compton as same existed on said last-mentioned
date; thence easterly along said boundary of the City of Compton and
following the some in all its various courses to the point of beginning. "
and does hereby ordain that said territory be, and it hereby is, annexed to the City of Carson.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 26th day of January ,
1970.

I, MARILYN R. CORTINA, City Clerk of the City of Carson, California,
do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of said City is five;
that the foregoing ordinance, being Ordinance No. 70-117, passed first reading on
January 19 , 1970, was duly and regularly adopted by the City Council of
said City at a regu ar meeting of said Council, duly and regularly held on the 26th day
of January , 1970, and that the same was so passed and adopted by te
following roll call vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Yamamoto, Smith, Marbut, Clark
and Junk.
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None.
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None.
