HomeMy Public PortalAbout71-181 ORDINANCE NO. 71-181 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARSON AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE ES- TABLISHING DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS FOR SERVICE STATIONS IN THE COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL ZONED DISTRICTS AND AMENDING THE CARSON MUNICIPAL CODE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 . Chapter 1 of Article IX of the Carson Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding Section 9124 to read as follows: 9124. Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance. Notwith- standing the provisions of Section 9100, the Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended by adding Sections 257.1, 258.3, 271 . 1 and 272.1 to read as follows: Section 257.1 . Gasoline Service Stations in Zone C-2. Gasoline service stations in Zone C-2 are permitted only as provided in Section 254.5 Gasoline Service Stations in Zone C-1). Section 258.3. Gasoline Service Stations in Zones C-3 and C-4. Gasoline service stations in Zones C-3 and C-4 are permitted only as provided in Section 254.5 (Gasoline Service Station in Zone C-1). I Section 271 .1 . Gasoline Service Stations in Zone M-1 . Gasoline Service Stations in Zone M- are imited to: (a) The retail sale of petroleum products, not including Liquid Petroleum Gas. (b) The supplying of air and water. (c) Auto washing by hand where an area of not more than five-hundred (500) square feet is used. (d) Waxing and polishing automobiles. (e) The repair, including lubrication of automobiles and other motor vehicles having a rated capacity of one (1) ton or less on the premises of such a service station, subject to the following conditions: (1) Such repair activities shall include painting, major engine overhaul or transmission repairing. (2) All repair activities, including the storage of equip- ment and materials, shall be within an enclosed building and conducted in such a manner so as not to be a nuisance to the occupants of adjacent properties. (3) A solid masonry wall, not less than six (6) feet in height, shall be erected and maintained along any common boundary line with property in a residential or agricultural zone, except that said wall shall be not less than thirty (30) inches or more than forty-two (42) inches in height within the setback required by Section 255(e). (4) All display and storage shall be located entirely within an enclosed building, except for automobile accessories, telephone booths, soft drink dispensing machines and facilities necessary to dis- pense petroleum products. Automobiles awaiting service may be parked in an unenclosed area for a period not exceeding twenty-four (24) hours. All required parking spaces shall be delineated on the ground. Ord. No. 71-181/P2 of 2 (5) Landscaping shall comprise an area of not less than two percent (2%) of the gross area developed for service station use. Section 272.1 . Gasoline Service Stations in Zones M-2 and M-4. Gasoline service stations in Zone M-2 and M-4 are permitted only as provided in Section 271 .1 (Gasoline Service Stations in Zone M-1).
