HomeMy Public PortalAbout72-209 ORDINANCE NO. 72-209 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARSON ADOPTING BY REFERENCE PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 50022.2 ORDINANCE NO. 9687 OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2947, THE UNFFORM FIRE CODE, BY ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE 1967 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE PREPARED BY THE CALIFORNIA FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section I . Section 3100 of the Carson Municipal Code, Article III, Chapter 1, is hereby amended to read as follows: "3100. Fire Code. The Fire Code of the County of Los Angeles, being Ordinance No. 2947 of the County of Los Angeles as amended by Ordinance No. 9687 of the County of Los Angeles, adopting by reference the 'Uniform Fire Code' 1967 edition, prepared by the California Fire Chiefs Association, with certain exceptions as amended and in effect on January 1, 1971, is hereby adopted as the Fire Code of the City of Carson. Three (3) copies of said Ordinance No. 2947 of the County of Los Angeles, California, as so amended, have been deposited with the office of the City Clerk of the City of Carson and shall be at all times maintained by said Clerk for use and examination by the public. " Section 2. Section 3100. 1 is hereby amended by amending subsections (A) and (B) thereof to read: "(A) By amending Section 32.01 to read: 'Section 32.01 . SCOPE. The provisions of this article shall apply to any motion picture film. ' (B) By amending Section 32.02 to read: 'Section 32.02. PERMIT REQUIRED. No person shall operate a motion picture projection machine in any institutional occupancy or place of public assembly without a valid permit as required by Section 32.05. The requirement of this section shall not apply to showings of films by governmental, charitable, religious, fraternal or nonprofit organizations, or public or private schools, provided that in the case of organizations other than governmental organizations or schools, films are shown not more frequently than once permonth. "' Section 3. Section 3100. 1 is hereby amended by amending subsection ( ) from the beginning thereof through subsection (a) thereof, to read: "(C) By amending Section 32.04, subsection (a), to read: 'Sec. 32.04. Projection Booth. '(a) Every motion picture projection machine shall be enclosed in a projection booth. Any institutional occupancy or place of public assembly in which films are shown shall be provided with a projection booth meeting the requirements of this section and any motion picture projection machine used on such premises shall be operated only within such projection booth. Cortina, City Clerk of the City of Carson, California, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of said City is five; that the foregoing ordinance, being Ordinance No. 72-209, passed first reading on February 22, 1972 was duly and regularly adopted by the City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly held on the 6th day of March, 1972, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following roll call vote: AYES: COUNCILMEN: Bridgers, Calas, Smith and Marbut.
