HomeMy Public PortalAbout72-228 ORDINANCE NO. 72-228 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARSON APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS "ANNEXATION NO. 4" TO THE CITY OF CARSON THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, proceedings were initiated for the annexation of certain inhabited territory to the City of Carson; and WHEREAS, said territory is now and has heretofore been designated as "Annexation No. 4; and WHEREAS, on the 26th day of May, 1972, the City Council of the City of Carson did pass and adopt Resolution No. 72-099 calling a special election to be held on the 25th day of July, 1972, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors residing in said territory the-question whether or not such territory should be annexed to, incorporated in and made a part of the City of Carson; and WHEREAS, said special election was duly held and conducted pursuant to law in said territory on the 25th day of July, 1972; and WHEREAS, on the 7th day of August, 1972, at the hour of 7:30 P.M., the City Council of the City of Carson duly assembled at its usual place of meeting and did canvass the returns of said election; and WHEREAS, a majority of the votes cast in said election were in favor of said annexation. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON does hereby approve the annexation to the City of Carson of said territory, designated as "Annexation No. 4" and described as follows: That certain territory in the County of Los Angeles, State of California, described as follows: Beginning at the angle point in the northerly boundary of the City of Long Beach as same existed on August 1, 1971, said angle point being the intersection of the center line of McHelen Avenue as shown on map of Tract No. 14171 filed in Book 281, pages 48, 49 and 50 of Maps, in the office of the Recorder of the County of Los Angeles and the westerly prolongation of the southerly line of Lot 202 of said tract; thence, generally, easterly and northerly along the boundary of the City of Long Beach as same existed on said date to an angle point in said boundary, said last mentioned angle point being a point in the easterly line of Santa Fe Avenue at Warnock Way and the northwesterly corner of "Increment 215" to the City of Long Beach; thence northerly along the easterly line of the 80 foot strip of land described in deed to the County of Los Angeles (for Santa Fe Avenue, formerly Perris Road) recorded in Book 5667, page 186 of Official Records,in the office of said recorder to the most southerly comer of that certain parcel of land described in deed to the County of Los Angeles (for Santa Fe Avenue) recorded in Book 22122, page 433 of said Official Records; thence northerly along the easterly boundary of said certain parcel of land to the northeasterly corner of said certain parcel of land; thence northerly in a direct line to the southeasterly corner of that certain parcel of land described in deed to the County of Los Angeles (for Santa Fe Avenue) recorded in Book D3455, page 243 of said Official Records, thence westerly, northwesterly, northerly and westerly along the easterly boundary of said last mee�tioned certain parcel of land to the easterly l ine of that certain 10 foot strip of land described in deed to the County of Los Angeles (for Santa Fe Avenue) recorded in Book 34486, page 286 of said Official Records; thence northerly along said last mentioned easterly line to the southerly line of that certain parcel of land designated as "Site of Dominguez Neighborhood Park" described in deed recorded in Book D109, page 622 of said Official Records; thence easterly along the southerly line of said last mentioned parcel of land 752.49 feet more or less to the westerly line of the Los Angeles and Ordinance No. 72-228/Page 2 of 2 Salt Lake Railroad right of way, 95 feet wide, as shown on County Surveyor's Map No. B-2642, on file in the office of the County Engineer of said county; thence northerly along said westerly line to the southerly prolongation of the easterly Iine of Tract No. 26312 as shown on map filed in Book 676, pages 18, 19 and 20 of said Maps, thence northerly along said southerly prolongation and said last mentioned easterly line to the boundary of the City of Carson as same existed on said date (along Dominguez Street); thence, generally, westerly and southerly along said boundary of the City of Carson to the boundary of the City of Los Angeles as same existed on said date (in Alameda Street); thence south easterly along the easterly boundary of the City of Los Angeles as same existed on said date to its intersection with said northerly boundary of the City of Long Beach (in Wardlow Road); thence easterly and northerly along said northerly boundary to the point of beginning, and does hereby ordain that said territory be, and it hereby is, annexed to the City of Carson.
