HomeMy Public PortalAbout74-307 ORDINANCE NO . 74-307 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARSON CHANGING THE EXPIRATION DATES OF CERTAIN COMMISSIONS, AND AMENDING THE CARSON MUNICIPAL CODE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: as follows: Section I . Section 2701 of the Carson Municipal Code is amended to read 2701 . Members. The Planning Commission shal I consist of nine (9) members each of whom shaThe appointed by the Mayor and ratified by the City Council . The tenure of any member of the Planning Commission shall be terminable any time by the Mayor upon the off irmative vote of a majority of the entire City Council . Subject to the provisions of this section, three appointments to the Commission shall be made each year, with each appointment being for a term of three (3) years. The term of office for each Commissioner shall continue to and including 94ine 30 of the year in which said term shall expire, and thereafter until a successor for the commissioner whose term is expiring has been appointed. Should any vacancy exist on the Planning Commission, an appointment shall be made in like manner for the unexpired portion of the term. Not less than seven (7) members of the Planning Commission shall be residents of the City of Carson. The City Director of Planning, the City Engineer and the City Administrator shall serve as Ex-Officio members of the Planning Commission. Section 2. Section 2736 of the Carson Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 2736. Members. The Parks and Recreation Commission shall consist of nine (9) members, eac- of whom shall e a resident of the City of Carson and shall be appointed by the Mayor and ratified by the City Council . The tenure of any member of the Parks and Recreation Commission shall be terminable at any time by the Mayor, upon affirmative vote of a majority of the entire City Courmil . Subject to the provisions of this section, three appoint- ments to the commission shall be made each year, wtli each appointment being for a term of three (3) years. The term of office for each commissioner shall continue to and including June 30 of the year in which said term shall expire, and thereafter until a successor for the commissioner whose term is expiring has been appointed. Section 2751 of the Carson Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 2751 . Membership. The Environmental Commission shall consist of nine (9) members, one of whom s a II be connected with a commercial enterprise in the City, one of whom shall be connected with an industrial establishment in the City, and at least seven (7) of whom shall be residents of the City and each of whom shal I be appointed by the Mayor and ratified by the City Council . The tenure of any member of the Environmental Commission shall be terminable at any time by the Mayor, upon the affirmative vote of a majority of the entire City Council . Subject to the provisions of this section, three appointments to the commission shall be made each year, with each appointment being for a term of three (3) years. Section 4. Section 2706 of the Carson Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: Ord.No. 74-307/Page 2 of 2 2706. Organization. The Commission may also appoint such other officers as may be necessary for the administration of its business, at the same time and for like terms. Said officers shall enter in the duties of their office at the first regular meeting in July of each year. The Commission shall adopt rules and regulations for the transaction of its business and shall keep a record of all its minutes, resolutions, actions, findings and determinations. Minutes, resolutions, and official records shall be filed with the City Clerk and the City Administrator. Section 5. Section2738 of the Carson Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 2738.
