AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARSON PROHIBITING
SWAP MEETS, FLEA MARKETS AND OTHER SIMILAR
ACTIVITIES AND AMENDING THE CARSON MUNICIPAL
CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 . Chapter 1 of Article IX of the Carson Municipal Code is hereby
amended by adding Section 9143 to read as follows:
Section 9143. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 9100, the Zoning
Ordinance is hereby amended by adding Sections 152.9 and 720.2 to read as follows:
SECTION 152.9 SWAP MEET; FLEA MARKET
"Swap meet or flea market" shall mean a business conducted for the purpose of
selling new or used merchandise in a drive-in theater or other location not primarily
devoted to such use on a daily basis and where two or more individual sellers rent, lease,
or otherwise purchase the right to sell their products at the location. "Swap meet
or flea market" shall not include sud"ctivities when conducted by a church, school,
or other similar non-profit public service organization,nor shall include an antique store,
junk store, auction house or other similar business.
SECTION 720.2 SWAP MEETS AND FLEA MARKETS PROHIBITED
No swap meet or flea market shall be established or permitted within any
zoning classification in the City of Carson.

that the foregoing_ordinance, being Ordinance No. 75-339, passed first reading on
April 21, 1975 , was duly and regularly adopted by the City Council of said
City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly held on the 5th
day of May 1 1975, and that the same was passed and adopted by the
following roll call vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Calas, Marbut, Smith, Yamamoto and Bridgers
