HomeMy Public PortalAbout75-340 ORDINANCE NO. 75-340 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARSON ESTABLISHING CERTAIN USES WHICH MAY BE PERMITTED IN THE C-1 (RESTRICTED BUSINESS) ZONED DISTRICT SUBJECT TO ISSUANCE OF A SPECIAL USE PERMIT, AND AMENDING THE CARSON MUNICIPAL CODE. i THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 . Sections 9103, 9111, 9127, 9134 and 9142 of the Carson Municipa -Code are hereby repealed. Section 2. A new Section 9103, amending Section 254 of the Zoning Ordinance, is added to the Carson Municipal Code to read: "9103. Amendment to Zoning Ordinance. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 9100, the Zoning Ordinance is hereby amended by repealing Subsection (a), and j amending Subsections (b) and (c) of Section 254 to read: SECTION 254. ZONE C-1 REGULATIONS (RESTRICTED BUSINESS). Subsection (a) is repealed. Subsections (b) (2) and (b) (37) are amended to read: (2) Automobiles. Automobile agency for the sale of new motor vehicles which have not been operated more than five hundred (500) miles, including the sale of second-hand motor vehicles on the same lot or parcel of land taken in as trade-ins. The operator of such automobile agency also may repair motor vehicles on the premises of the auto- mobile agency to the same extent and subject to the same conditions ' as automobile repairing is permitted in a gasoline service station in Zone C-1, except that in the case of a new car agency offering com- prehensive automobile services, body and fender repairing, painting, major engine overhauling, transmission work and other related activities may be done subject to issuance of a permit as provided in Article 1 of Chapter 5. (37) Motels. Subsection (c) is amended to read: (c) If a permit has first been obtained as provided in Article 1 of Chapter 5, the following uses while such permit is in full force and effect and in conformity with the conditions of such permit: (1) Airport (2) Ambulance Service. (3) Antique Shops. (4) Appliance, small electrical, repair. (5) Automobile repair garages within an enclosed building, but excluding body and fender work and painting shops. (6) Billiard and pool halls. (7) Blueprint shops. (8) Boat and other marine sales. Ord. No. 75-340/Page 2 (9) Body and fender repairing, painting, major engine overhauling, transmission work and other related activities in connection with a new car agency offering comprehensive automobile services. (10) Car washes. (11) Catering services. (12) Clinics, medical and dental, including laboratories in conjunction therewith. (13) Convent. (14) Dry cleaning, self-service. (15) Feed and grain sales. (16) Fraternity or sorority house. (17) Glass edging, beveling and silvering in connection with the sale of mirrors. (18) Hospital, institution or home for the treatment of convalescent persons, children, aged persons, alcoholics, the wounded or mentally infirm, and guest home. (19) Hotel other than hotel for transients as provided in Section 254. (20) Institutions of educational, philanthropic or charitable nature. (21) Jail farm or honor farm, publicly owned, used for the rehabilitation of prisoners. (22) Landing field. (23) Lodge, house. (24) Manufacturer's agent, carrying no inventory other than samples. (25) Mineographing and addressograph services. (26) Miniature golf course (specifically excluding pitch and putt). (27) Mobile home park subject to all of the conditions provided in Section 216-3. (28) Mortuaries. (29) Motels with kitchens. (30) Muffler shops in an enclosed building. (31) Pet shops. (32) Pet supply shops. (33) Photoengraving. (34) Photo finishing. (35) Plumbing shops. (36) Printers or publishers. Ord. No. 75-340/Page 3 (37) Radio transmitter station tower. (38) Second hand stores. (39) Shoe repair shops. (40) Skating rinks. (41) Stained glass assembly. (42) Upholstery shops in an enclosed building. (43) Wholesale business with samples on the premises, but not including general warehousing. (44) Other similar uses which the Commission finds are not more obnoxious or detrimental to the public welfare than the businesses enumerated in this Section.
