AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARSON
REGULATING VENDORS ON STREETS IN
RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS AND
AMENDING THE CARSON MUNICIPAL CODE
AND DECLARING THE URGENCY THEREOF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS :
Section 1 . Section 4125 of Chapter 1 , Article IV of
the Carson Municipal Code is amended to read:
4125 : Vendors on Streets . No person shall sell any product
from a vehicle parked on any public street, alley or
highway when:
A. The posted speed limit on the public street, alley,
or highway where the vehicle is parked exceeds 35
mph; or
B. The vehicle from which the products are sold is not
lawfully parked; or
C. Any part of the vehicle from which the products are
sold is open to prospective customers other than the
side of the vehicle facing away from the street; or
D. The products are sold to persons within a vehicle or
standing in the portion of the roadway open to motor
vehicles; or
E. The vehicle is not parked on the right side of the
street; or
F. There is not a clear view of the vehicle from the
street at a distance of 200 feet in front of and
200 feet behind the vehicle; or
G. The product sold from the vehicle is ice cream,
candy, a carbonated drink or other food or beverage
and the vehicle is parked within 600 feet of
residentially developed property.
Section 2 . The sale of food and beverages from vehicles
in residential neighborhoods is creating hazards for children.
Several children have recently been injured and one child has been
killed by such vending vehicles or by other vehicles, when ,crossing
streets to make purchases of food or beverages from vending vehicles.
This ordinance will eliminate such hazards by prohibiting the sale
of food and beverages from vehicles in the residential areas of the
City, is therefore necessary for the immediate preservation of the
public health safety and general welfare and shall take effect
immediately upon its adoption.

hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of said
City is five; that the foregoing ordinance, being Ordinance No. 81-574U was duly
adopted by the City Council of said City on an urgency basis at an adjourned
regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly held on the 10th day of
September, 1981, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following
roll call vote:
