The regular meeting of Council was held today at 4; p.m. and was attended by Mayor Gamble who presided and Councilmen Espy, Logan, Walthour and Horovitz, also Town Attorney McIntire.' c °_ Two petitions protesting against the high assessments on their -�t s4c k, property was presented, by Mrs. Ben Blumberg and A. W. Vick, hNcM as eAs -the opinion of Council was that nothing could be dome towards °'f° reducing these assessments this year. 'TtkreAs it was necessary that a new motorcycle be purchased for the 1 ""to-Police Department, and as the bid of the Cleary Motorcycle Co., yece. to furnish a special Police model, Harley - Davidson machine for 363.00 less $100.00 allowance on the old machine, Mr. Logan made a motion that it be bought, seconded by : r. RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND ALDERMAN OF THE TOWN OF SAVANNAH BEACH, TYBEE ISLAiD, in Council assembled., that this Board is very much gratified to learn that the volume of business which has been developed by the Savannah Electric Co., at Savannah Beach has reached sufficient proportions to justify that company in reducing its rates for electric service to its customers on the island, and having had its plans in this conec- tion presented for official consideration we beg to heartily en- dorse them and to urge the Public Service Commission of the State of Georgia to issue the requiredofficial order accepting and putting such new rates into effect as promptly as possible in order that the consumers of electricity of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, may receive the benefits of these lowered rates this season and thereafter; in this connection we further wich to ex- press our appreciation of the fact that the service rendered by the Savannah Electric Company had teen a very material factor in the de *elopment of Savannah Beach, and has lead to the con - structipn of many homes there, and that the lowering of its rates will further promote the development of the Town, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this resolution be sent by the Clerk of Council to the Honorable Chairman of the Public Service Commission, of the State of Ga. There being no further business Council adjourned subject to the call of the Mayor. The following resolution was read, and in which regrets were ex- pressed at the lost of the retireing Councilmen Espy, walthour and Horovitz, Mr. Cann made.a motion that it be adopted, it was . seconded by Mr. Logan, and the motion passed unaminioualy.
