AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1998 -13
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE SIZE OF DEPARTMENTS OF
CITY GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF GREENCASTLE, INDIANA,
FIXING SALARIES FOR THE EMPLOYEES OF SUCH DEPARTMENTS AND
FIXING THE SALARIES OF CERTAIN OTHER APPOINTED OFFICIALS
FOR THE YEAR 1999
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice has approved a COPS Universal Hiring
Program Grant award of $150,000 to the City of Greencastle for the hiring of two (2)
additional police officers;
WHEREAS, the City accepts the grant for one additional officer, beginning
employment no earlier than July 1, 1999.
BE IT ORDAINED AND ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle, Indiana, that Ordinance No. 1998 -13, "An Ordinance Establishing the Size of
Departments of City Government of the City of Greencastle, Indiana, Fixing Salaries for the
Employees of Such Departments and Fixing the Salaries of Certain Other Appointed Officials
for the Year 1999" is hereby amended as follows:
Section Two is amended to read as follows:

SECTION TWO: That the Police Department shall consist of twenty (20) full time
members and in addition, part time dispatchers in the maximum allowable number and six
(6) part time school crossing guards. Base pay ranges, including the maximum, shall be as
follows:
P5 - Police Chief
P5 - Assistant Chief
P4 - Captain (3)
P3 - Sergeant (3)
P2 - Patrolman (6)
P2 - Probationary Patrolman
P1 - Parking Violations Officer 16,000.00
C3 - Secretary 17,100.00
C3 - Dispatchers (4) 17,100.00
C3 - Dispatchers (part time @ 7.00 hr)
Crossing Guards (6 @ 10.10 day)
