AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA,
RELATING TO THE REQUIREMENTS FOR FIREWORKS
PERMITS AND AMENDING THE CARSON MUNICIPAL CODE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Code Amendment. Subsection (h) of Section 3101.5 of Chapter 1
(Fire Prevention), Article III (Public Safety), of the Carson Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows until 12:00 midnight on July 4, 1996:
"(h) the total number of licenses for fireworks stands in the City of Carson
issued in calendar year 1996 shall not exceed thirty (30)."
Section 2. Code Amendment. Subsection (h) of Section 3101.5 of Chapter
1 (Fire Prevention), Article III (Public Safety), of the Carson Municipal Code is
hereby amended to read as follows effective 12:01 a.m. on July 4, 1996:
"(h) The total number of licenses for fireworks stands in the City of
Carson issued in any one calendar year shall not exceed twenty-eight
(28)."
Section a. Declaration of Urgency. A limited number of fireworks
licenses are available in the City of Carson, and the number of qualified applicants
for 1996 exceeds the number of currently available permits. The community and
social works of the applicants directly benefit the welfare of the Carson
community, and these works will be negatively affected if the applicants are
unable to raise funds through the sales of fireworks in 1996. This Ordinance is
therefore necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health,
safety and welfare and shall take effect immediately.

that the whole number of members of the City Council of said City is five; that the foregoing
ordinance, being Ordinance No. 96-1087U was duly and regularly adopted by the City Council
of said City on an urgency basis at a regular meeting of said Council, duly held on the 2nd
day of April, 1996, and that the same was passed and adopted by the following roll call vote:
