HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-13-2010 Task Force Minutes Advisory Task Force on Economic Development Meeting Minutes October 13, 2010 Attendees: Tim Stetenfeld, Harold Oliver, Brian Davis, Greg Schaefer, Troy Strange, Steve Preze, Michael Blaylock, and Michael Konrad. Also: Brian Murphy, Michael Garrigan, Jonathan Proulx, Rick Kaczanko, and Amy De Boni. The meeting was called to order at 7:33 a.m. Roll call was taken. Pat Harbour, John Harper, and Mike Paris were absent. Business Meeting Village Administrator Brian Murphy welcomed the Task Force and introduced Chairman Tim Stetenfeld and Vice ‐Chair Steve Preze. Chairman Stetenfeld then spoke briefly before beginning the meeting. Mr. Murphy introduced Task Force Member Harold Oliver. Mr. Oliver provided a developer’s perspective on retail site selection and provided accompanying handouts. He explained that it is important for municipalities to have a streamlined development process. Rick Kaczanko highlighted recent updates to the www.plainfielddevelopment.com web site including a new contact form which allows visitors to register for Economic Development E ‐News Updates and a map showing sites available for development in the Village. Mr. Murphy and Mr. Kaczanko also demonstrated the ESRI iPhone app and explained the type of information that can be accessed about the community. In the interests of time, the Task Force decided to postpone the remaining agenda items (presentations on Industrial Site Selection – Mike Paris and Commercial Loans – Steve Preze) to the next meeting. Chairman Stetenfeld then briefly discussed goals and next steps for the Task Force highlighting education, retention, and recruitment including online surveys, visits, phone calls, and mail pieces. The Task Force will continue their discussion at the next meeting. The Task Force set the next meeting for November 10 th at 7:30 a.m. The meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
