HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-10-2010 Task Force Minutes Advisory Task Force on Economic Development Meeting Minutes November 10, 2010 Attendees: Tim Stetenfeld, Brian Davis, Greg Schaefer, Troy Strange, Steve Preze, Michael Blaylock, Michael Konrad, Pat Harbour, and Mike Paris. Also: Mayor Collins, Brian Murphy, Michael Garrigan, Jonathan Proulx, Rick Kaczanko, and Amy De Boni. Chairman Stetenfeld called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. Village Administrator Brian Murphy took roll call. John Harper and Harold Oliver were absent. The Task Force Members briefly introduced themselves. Business Meeting Motion was made by Brian Davis, second by Greg Schaefer, to approve the minutes of the September 8 and October 13, 2010 Meetings. Motion passed (9 ‐0). Motion was made by Brian Davis, second by Greg Schaefer, to approve the 2011 Meeting Schedule which includes meetings on January 12, April 13, July 13, and October 12, 2011. Motion passed (9 ‐0). Task Force Member Mike Paris presented information on industrial site selection from a site consultant’s perspective including what industrial firms are looking for, the top ten industrial development factors, and site selection methodology. Vice ‐Chair Steve Preze presented information to the Task Force on commercial loans including the Small Business Administration’s 7A and 504 Loan Programs. The Task Force then discussed goals and next steps including an exercise on community strengths and weaknesses and a discussion of recruitment and retention efforts. Brian Murphy highlighted a new update to the development web site, www.plainfielddevelopment.com. The locations map now displays properties by category. The Task Force set the next meeting for December 8, 2010 at First Midwest Bank. The meeting adjourned at 9:00 a.m.
