A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARSON OPPOSING THE AMOUNT AND METHOD OF
COMPUTING THE PENDING INCREASE IN THE CONTRACT
COST OF LAW AND TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT SERVICES
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles and the Contract Cities
Association are now and have been engaged in committee discussions of the
contract costs for General Law and Traffic Enforcement; and
WHEREAS, the subject contract cost will become the base
contract cost for the forthcoming five (5) years; and
WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles is proposing to increase
law enforcement contract costs by 24% for the next year and subsequent
years; and
WHEREAS, the factors upon which this increase is being
predicated are subject to question as to amount and also applicability; and
WHEREAS, any increase in contract costs in the percentage
amount now contemplated by the County of Los Angeles will work havoc upon
all Contract Cities' budgets; and
WHEREAS, the City of Carson is now contracting with the
County of Los Angeles for General Law and Traffic Enforcement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARSON:
That the City of Carson be on record as opposing the sub-
stantial increase advanced by the County of Los Angeles; and
That the City of Carson more particularly opposes the inclu-
sion of items of General County Overhead that appear to be either repetitive
when applied to all contract unit prices or which are not in fact applicable
to the contract services as actually performed; and
That copies of this resolution be directed to each member of
the Board of Supervisors, to the Sheriff, to the County Administrator, to
each member of the Contract Cities Study Committee and to the City Councils
of all Contract Cities.

California, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City
Council of said City is five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution
No. 69-11, was duly and regularly adopted by the City Council of said City at
a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly held on the 3rd day
of February , 1969, and that the same was so passed and adopted by
the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Clark, Junk, Smith, Yamamoto
and Marbut.
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None.
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None.
