HomeMy Public PortalAbout69-022RESOLUTION NO. 69-22 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON ORDERING THE VACATION OF THAT 25 FOOT STREET KNOWN AS 220TH STREET THAT IS SITUATED BETWEEN THE SAN DIEGO FREEWAY AND THE DOMINGUEZ CHANNEL WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carson did, on January 6, 1969, adopt Resolution No. 69-1, entitled "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Carson declaring its intention to vacate that 25 foot street known as 220th Street that is situated between the San Diego Freeway and the Dominguez Channel;" and WHEREAS, said City Council held a public hearing thereon on February 10, 1969, at the hour of 6:30 P.M., at the Council Chambers at the Carnegie Junior High School Oral Arts Room 39, 21820 Bonita Street, at which time said Council did hear all evidence offered by persons interested in said vacation; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carson does hereby find that that 25 foot wide street between the San Diego Freeway and the Dominguez Channel, as described or referred to in said Resolution No. 69-1, is unnecessary for present or prospective public street purposes; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that that 25 foot street situated between the San Diego Freeway and the Dominguez Channel within the City of Carson known as 220th Street, as shown on the map of the pro- posed vacation on file in the office of the City Clerk, designated as "Proposed abandonment 220th Street and Lucerne Street", shall be and is hereby vacated: Being that portion of 220th Street (formerly Amelia Street), in the City of Carson, County of Los Angeles, State of California, as shown on and dedicated by map of Tract No. 4546, filed in Book 50, pages 21 and 22, of Maps, in the office of the Recorder of said County, within the following described boundaries: Beginning at the southeasterly corner of Lot 29, said tract; thence southeasterly along the southeasterly continuation of the curved northeasterly boundary of said lot to a line parallel with and 25 feet southerly, measured at right angles, from the southerly line of said lot; thence westerly along said parallel line 153.49 feet; thence northerly at right angles from said parallel line 25.00 feet to said southerly line; thence easterly along said southerly line to the point of beginning. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby finds that the public convenience and necessity require that such vacation be subject to the reservation and exception of the permanent easement and right at any time or from time to time, to construct, maintain, operate, replace, remove and renew sanitary sewers and storm drains and appurtenant structures in, upon, over and across that portion of 220th Street which is vacated herein, and the right to conduct, maintain, operate, replace, remove, renew and enlarge lines of pipes, conduits, cables, wire, poles and other convenient structures, equipment and fixtures from the operation of gas pipelines, telegraphic and telephone lines, water pipelines and other pipes for the distribution of petroleum and other related products, as provided for in Section 8330 of the Streets and Highways Code. Res. No. 69-22/P•2 of 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Carson shall cause a certified copy of this Resolution and Order to be recorded in the Office of the Recorder of the County of Los Angeles.
