A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARSON COMMENDING JOHN A. MARBUT
WHEREAS, John A. Marbut has been a resident of the City of
Carson for many years; and
WHEREAS, John A. Marbut worked diligently, many long hours,
for''the successful incorporation of the City of Carson as the 77th City in
Los Angeles County; and
WHEREAS, John A. Marbut, as a candidate for the City Council
of the new City of Carson, was elected to the first City Council with the
largest number of votes given to any candidate for City Council; and
WHEREAS, John A. Marbut was chosen by his fellow Councilmen
to serve as the first Mayor of the new City of Carson; and
WHEREAS, John A. Marbut provided wisdom, leadership and
inspiration for the year he served as Mayor:
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, as an expression of appreciation on behalf of the citizens
of this City, commend and congratulate John A. Marbut for his dignified,
impartial and business -like service to the City of Carson as Mayor from
February 20, 1968 to April 14, 1969.
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution
be spread in full on the Minutes of this meeting and that a copy, suitably
engraved, be presented to him.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 9th day of June, 1969.

I, MARILYN R. CORTINA, City Clerk of the City of Carson,
California, do hereby certify that the whole number of members of the
City Council of said City is five; that the foregoing resolution, being
Resolution No. 69-65, was duly and regularly adopted by the City Council
of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly
held on the 9th day of June, 1969, and that the same was so passed and
adopted by the following vote:
