A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARSON, CALIFORNIA, CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON THE 13TH DAY OF JANUARY, 1970, FOR THE
PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS RESIDING IN
THE TERRITORY KNOWN AS THE "STEVENSON VILLAGE
TERRITORY" THE QUESTION WHETHER SUCH TERRITORY SHALL
BE ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 69-125, the City Council of the City of Carson,
California, declared its intention to call a special election in certain inhabited territory con-
tiguous to said city proposed to be annexed to the city, for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified electors residing in said territory the question whether or not the territory shall be
annexed to the city; and
WHEREAS, a copy of said Resolution was posted not less than 10 days before
the hearing in three public places within the Stevenson Village Territory as required by law;
and
WHEREAS, a public hearing to hear protests of owners was held on November
10, 1969; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing objections to the proposed annexation were
not made by public and private owners equal to one-half of the value of the territory proposed
to be annexed; and
WHEREAS, all proceedings have been had in accordance with said Resolution
and the Annexation Act of 1913, reference thereto hereby being made for further particulars;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carson, California, as follows:
Section I. That a special election be and the same is hereby called to be
held on the 13th day of January, 1970, in the territory hereinafter described and proposed to
be annexed to the City of Carson, California, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified
electors residing in said territory the question whether or not such territory shall be annexed to,
incorporated in, and made a part of said City of Carson, California.
Said territory is described as follows:
That parcel of land in the County of Los Angeles, State of California,
described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the southerly prolongation of the easterly
line of that certain parcel of land described in Document 984, recorded April
27, 1966, in Book D3285, page 100 of Official Records, in the office of the
Recorder of said County, and the northerly boundary of the City of Carson
as same existed on October 1, 1968 (in Victoria Street); thence westerly
and northerly along said boundary line of the City of Carson following the
same in all of its courses to its intersection with the boundary of the City
of Compton as some existed on said last-mentioned date; thence easterly
along said boundary of the City of Compton and following the same in all
its various courses to the point of beginning.
Section 2. That the polls at said election shall be opened at 7:00 A.M.
of the day herein fixed for the holding of said election and shall be kept open until 8:00 P.
of the same day, when the polls shall be closed.

Section 3. Upon the ballots to be used at said election there shall be
printed the words:
SHALL "STEVENSON VILLAGE TERRITORY"
BE ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF CARSON,
CALIFORNIA?
Opposite these words there shall be printed the words:
"YES" and "NO", and to the right of each of these last two words
there shall be a voting square. If an elector shall stamp a cross (X) in the voting square after
the printed word "YES" the vote of such elector shall be counted in favor of the annexation
of said territory to the City of Carson, California; and if an elector shall stamp a cross (X)
in the voting square after the printed word "NO" the vote of such elector shall be counted
against such annexation.
In all particulars not herein recited, said election shall be held in conformity,
as near as may be, with the laws of the State of California, concerning general elections and
with said Annexation Act of 1913.
Section 4. (a) For the purpose of holding said election there is hereby
established in the territory described herein, Voting Precinct No. 1, consisting of a consolidation
of all or those portions of regular county precincts numbers Dominguez 1, Dominguez 13,
Dominguez 14, Dominguez 15 and Willowbrook 22, established for the holding of State and
County elections and which lie within the area to be annexed.
The following is the polling place of said election precinct, and the following
named persons are hereby named officers of election and shall constitute the board of election
for such election precinct:
Voting precinct No. 1
Polling place: 1222 East Radbard Street
Inspector: Carolyn D. Powell
Judge: George V. Chastang
Clerk: Bessie V. Ward
Clerk: Sarah Greer
(b) For their services in connection with said election, said
inspector shall receive $21.00 and said judge shall receive $18.00 and the person in possession
of the polling place named herein shall receive for the use of such premises in connection with
said election the sum of $25.00. Said clerks shall receive $18.00 each for their services.
Section 5. The City Clerk shall publish a notice of said special election,
as required by the Annexation Act of 1913, at least once a week for four (4) weeks prior to
the date of the election on January 13, 1970, in the Carson -Dominguez News, a newspaper
of general circulation printed and published outside the City of Carson, California, but in the
County of Los Angeles, California.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of November, 1969.

I, MARILYN R. CORTINA, City Clerk of the City of Carson, California do
hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of said City is five; that
the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 69-144, was duly and regularly adopted by the
City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly held on
the 24th day of November, 1969, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following
vote:
