HomeMy Public PortalAbout70-003RESOLUTION NO. 70-003 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 14TH DAY OF APRIL, 1970, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS OF SAID CITY AS REQUIRED BY THE PRO- VISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA RELATING TO GENERAL LAW CITIES. WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to General Law Cities in the State of California, a regular general municipal election shall be held on the 14th day of April, 1970, for the election of five (5) members of the City Council of said City, of which the three receiving the lowest number of votes of the Councilmen elected shall be elected for two year terms and the two receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected for the full term of four years, a City Clerk of said City for the full term of four years, and a City Treasurer of said City for the full term of four years; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of the laws of the State of California relating to General Law Cities within said State, there shall be, and there is hereby called and ordered, held in the City of Carson, County of Los Angeles, State of California, on Tuesday, the 14th day of April, 1970, a regular general municipal election of the qualified electors of said City for the purpose of electing five (5) members of the City Council of said City of which the three receiving the lowest number of votes of the Councilmen elected shall be elected for two year terms and the two receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected for the full term of four years, a City Clerk of said City for the full term of four years, and a City Treasurer of said City for the full term of four years. Section 2. That the ballots to be used at said election shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat. Section 3. That the City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said election. Section 4. That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City. Section 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
