HomeMy Public PortalAbout70-111RESOLUTION NO. 70-111 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON ORDERING THE VACATION OF THAT PORTION OF SEPULVEDA BOULEVARD FROM A POINT EASTERLY OF THE DOMINGUEZ CHANNEL TO THE CLASSIFICATION YARD (L.A. CITY BOUNDARY), AND ABUTTING SEPULVE- DA BOULEVARD ON THE NORTH WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carson did on August 3, 1970, adopt Resolution No. 70-101, entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO VACATE THAT PORTION OF SEPULVEDA BOULEVARD FROM A POINT EASTERLY OF THE DOMINGUEZ CHANNEL TO THE CLASSI- FICATION YARD (L.A. CITY BOUNDARY), AND ABUTTING SEPULVEDA BOULEVARD ON THE NORTH;" and WHEREAS, said City Council did hold a public hearing thereon on September 8, 1970, at the hour of 7:30 P.M., at the Council Chambers located at 21919 South Avalon Boule- vard, Carson, California, at which time said Council did hear all evidence offered by persons interested in said vacation; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carson does hereby find that said por- tion of Sepulveda Boulevard that is situated from a point easterly of the Dominguez Channel to the Classification Yard (L.A. City Boundary), and abutting Sepulveda Boulevard on the north described and referred to in said Resolution No. 70-101 is unnecessary for present and prospec- tive street purposes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED by the City Council of the City of Carson, as follows: Section 1. That the following described portion of Sepulveda Boulevard that is situated from a point easterly of the Dominguez Channel to the Classification Yard (L.A. City Boundary), and abutting Sepulveda Boulevard on the north, shall be, and it is hereby, vacated: That portion of Sepulveda Boulevard, in the City of Carson, County of Los Angeles, State of California, as granted to said County of Los Angeles by Road Deed recorded September 8, 1966, as Document No. 2176 of Official Records in the office of the County Recorder of said County, lying northerly of the following described line: Beginning at a point on a line which is parallel with and 50.00 feet northerly, measured at right angles, from the centerline of Sepulve- da Boulevard, as shown on map of Tract No. 10884 recorded in Book 301, pages 37, 38, 39 of Maps in the office of said County Re- corder, said point being distant along said parallel line, South 700 44'25" East 510.02 feet from the easterly line of that parcel of land described in deed to Los Angeles County Flood Control District re- corded in Book 19568, page 40 of said Official Records, and which parcel of land is known as the Dominguez Channel Right of Way, 250 feet in width, said point being also the beginning of a tangent curve concave southerly and having a radius of 10,050 feet; thence easterly along said curve through a central angle of 0058'18" an arc distance of 170.44 feet; thence south 6904670" east to the north- westerly line of the lands of the Los Angeles Harbor Department Classification Yards as condemned by Final Decree of Condemnation entered in Superior Court of Los Angeles County as Case No. 205836, a certified copy of which decree was recorded in Book 7300, page 146 of said Official Records. Res. No. 70-111/P.2 of 2 Section 2. That the City Council hereby finds that the public convenience and necessity requires no reservation of any easements or right of way for public utilities within the above described property. Section 3. That the City Clerk of the City of Carson shall cause a certified copy of this Resolution and Order to be recorded in the office of the Recorder of the County of Los Angeles.
