HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-18-2005THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, AUGUST 18, 2005 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, August 18, 2005, in the Community Room at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members John Kenny, Dian Lawson and Mary Jo Flood. Also attending were Adam Forrest representing the City Attorney's Office and Fire Chief Mike Crawley. The following business was conducted: CALL TO ORDER Kenny called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that all board members and legal counsel were present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Kenny made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the August 11, 2005 meeting. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Kenny made a request to the board to approve the claims for payment in the amount of $160,074.97. He told the board that some of the larger amounts were monthly RP &L bills, monthly legal service fees and engineering work on the Salisbury Road Widening Project. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. REQUEST A. Kenny presented to the board a request that was submitted by Captain Don Ponder for the approval to hold a "Moonlight Parade" on Saturday, August 27, 2005 beginning at 8:30 PM for approximately 2 hours. The request was also to include the closing of Hub Etchinson Boulevard from noon until the end of the parade for the staging of the entries. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. B. Kenny brought to the board a request that was presented by Fire Chief Mike Crawley for the approval to let the Richmond Fire Department participate in the "Moonlight Parade" to be held on Saturday, August 27, 2005 by supplying a Fire Truck to be in the parade. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed. Board of Works Minutes August 18, 2005 Page 2 of 2 C. Kenny presented to the board a request that was submitted by Captain Don Ponder for the approval to have Trick -or -Treat beggars night from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, October 31, 2005. Deputy City Clerk Monica Burns told the board that by request of the Mayor she had contacted several surrounding communities and the ones that were contacted were in agreement that they thought that it was a good idea to have their Trick -or -Treat night the same time as Richmond's. Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously passed. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed unanimously.
