A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARSON APPROVING CARSON REFUSE COMPANY RATE
INCREASE
WHEREAS, the City of Carson entered into an exclusive agreement or
franchise with Carson Refuse Company on October 14, 1968, for the collection and disposal
of garbage, rubbish and debris from residential properties in the City of Carson pursuant to
the provisions of Article V, Chapter 2 of the Carson Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, under the terms of said agreement, the rates chargeable by
Carson Refuse Company for such collection and disposal services were fixed at $2.50 per
month per residential unit and such rates may not be increased without approval of this
City Council; and
WHEREAS, Carson Refuse Company under date of November 12, 1970,
filed a request for approval of an increase of $.50 per residential unit per month in said
rates, supported by financial statements and evidence of increases in costs of doing business
and said request was duly set for hearing before the City Council in accordance with the
provisions of said agreement; and
WHEREAS, a hearing on said request was duly held before the City Council
at which evidence was heard relative to said request for an increase in rates and said request
was furtherstudied by a committee of the City Council which committee duly reported its
findings to the City Council on March 1, 1971, on which date said hearing was completed; and
WHEREAS, the City Council thereafter again referred said matter of the re-
quested rate increase to a committee of the City Council, and authorized the employment of
a certified public accountant to examine the financial statements and reports of the accounts
of Carson Refuse Company; and
WHEREAS, an additional public hearing was noticed and held before the City
Council on June 28, 1971, at which hearing the report of the Council committee was received
and evidence for and against the requested rate increase was received.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this City Council finds and
determines that an increase in the rates charged for each residential unit in the City of
Carson served by Carson Refuse Company is justified by the increase in the cost of doing
business since said agreement was entered into on October 14, 1968; that the requested
increase of $.50 per month per residential unit is not warranted but an increase of $.35 per
residential unit is justified and is hereby approved effective July I, 1971.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 28th day of June, 1971.

hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of said City is five;
that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 71-096, was duly and regularly
adopted by the City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and
regularly held on the 28th day of June, 1971, and that the same was so passed and
adopted by the following vote:
