HomeMy Public PortalAbout71-109RESOLUTION NO. 71-109 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON REQUESTING THAT ALL GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES RESPONSIBLE FOR ENFORCING ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS PROVIDE A TOLL-FREE TELEPHONE NUMBER WHEREAS, the effectiveness of governmental agencies charged with enforcing environmental laws, depends for its effectiveness in many areas on citizens reporting possible violations of those laws to such agencies; and WHEREAS, such citizen reports will be more frequently made, increasing the effectivenss of the agencies concerned, if each agency provided a toll-free telephone number for the reporting of complaints concerning possible violations of laws administered by the agency in question. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carson, California, that the City Council goes on record as strongly urging each governmental agency charged with the enforcement of environmental laws and regulations, provide a toll- free telephone number for receiving calls reporting violations of such laws or regulations. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Carson hereby requests all cities within Los Angeles County, the County of Los Angeles, the League of California Cities and all governmental agencies operating within the Los Angeles County area, to support this request that such agencies install toll-free telephones for the handling of calls reporting violations of laws or regulations administered by those agencies.
