HomeMy Public PortalAbout71-110RESOLUTION NO. 71-110 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON EXPRESSING RESPECTS FOR ROBERT (BOB) DORAN WHEREAS, on July 15, 1971, death brought to a close the active life of Robert Doran, better known as Bob Doran; and WHEREAS, Bob Doran dedicated 33 years of his life as an educator at Banning and Carson High Schools, serving as a teacher, track coach and chairman of the Biology and Health Departments; and WHEREAS, through his devotion and concern for his fellow man, he earned the devotion and respect of his students and his fellow associates; and WHEREAS, he gave of his personal time and energies to such extra curricular school functions as Vice President of the faculty at Carson High School; sponsorship of the Science Club; Candy Stripers, Red Cross Club; served as Santa Claus at all the school Christmas Dances and was honored with a lifetime PTA membership for his devotion to his students' welfare; and WHEREAS, he actively participated in the Wilcardo YMCA, serving on its boards, teaching at the Y Summer Camp and received the Golden Book of Distinguished Service award; and WHEREAS, he was a devoted Christian, serving as chairman of the elders and chairman of the church board at the First Christian Church; and WHEREAS, because of his dedicated and tireless efforts, he was a positive influence on his students, guiding them to a better understanding of their fellow man. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of Carson, by this resolution and public record, recognize the profound influence of Robert (Bob) Doran upon the citizens of the City of Carson, California, recognizing further that his death is a distinct loss to the community in which he earned devotion, love and respect. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the Council and that copies be sent to his daughter, Carol Nakaji, his son Jerry Doran and to his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Doran in recognition of Mr. Robert (Bob) Doran's respected place in this community.
