HomeMy Public PortalAbout2011-10-09 [11P-068] Fatal Motorcycle Crash UpdateVILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Press Release #: 11P-068 Release Date: 10/09/11 Report #: 11-9423 Contact: Sergeant Mike Fisher , Plainfield Police 815-651-6953 On Saturday, October 08, 2011 at 4:28 P.M. the Plainfield Police Department responded to the report of a truck vs. motorcyc le crash with injuries on Illinois Rt. 59 at Joseph Street. Upon arrival, officers located a 2005 Ford truck driven by David C. Dietrich, 32 of Shorewood and a 2010 Harley Davidson Mo torcycle driven by George A. Weikum, 58 of Naperville Illinois. Preliminary investigation i ndicates that the Ford truck traveled south bound Rt. 59 north of Joseph when it lost c ontrol, crossed over the center median, rolled over and struck the Harley Davidson traveling north on Rt. 59 north of Joseph. The driver of the Ford was transported to the Provena Sain t Joseph Hospital in Joliet for medical treatment. The driver of the Harley Davi dson was pronounced dead on the scene. Illinois Rt. 59 between 135 th and 143 rd streets was closed and remains closed at the time of this release while me mbers of the Plainfield Poli ce Crash Reconstruction Unit investigate the crash. *UPDATE * After being released from Provena Saint Joseph Hospital, the driver of the Ford, David C. Dietrich, was transported to the Plainfield Police Department . While at the Plainfield Police Department the investi gation of the crash lead to t he following criminal charges against David: 14300 S. (Driving Un der the Influence)  Improper Lane Usage  Too fast for conditions  Operation of Uninsured Motor Vehicle David (photo below) was processed and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Center in Joliet.
