HomeMy Public PortalAbout72-112RESOLUTION NO. 72-112 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON SUPPLEMENTING THE PROVISIONS OF RESOLUTION NO. 72-099; DESIGNATING THE TERRITORY PROPOSED TO BE ANNEXED AS ANNEXATION NO. 4; ESTABLISHING ELECTION PRECINCTS AND POLLING PLACES IN SAID TERRITORY; APPOINTING THE OFFICERS OF ELECTION FOR SAID SPECIAL ELECTION AND PROVIDING COMPENSATION THEREFOR. WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 72-099, the City Council of the City of Carson called for a special election to be held in certain inhabited territory contiguous to said City proposed to be annexed to the city, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors residing in said territory the question whether or not the territory shall be annexed to the city. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carson does hereby resolve as follows: Section 1. That the territory heretofore described in Resolution No. 72-099, shall be known as Annexation No. 4. Section 2. Upon the ballots to be used at said election there shall be printed the words: SHALL ANNEXATION NO. 4 BE ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF CARSON? Opposite those words there shall be printed the words "YES" and "NO", and to the right of each of these last two words there shall be a voting square. If an elector shall stamp a cross (+) in the voting square after the printed word "YES" the vote of such elector shall be counted in favor of the annexation of said territory to the City of Carson; and if an elector shall stamp a cross (+) in the voting square after the printed word "NO" the vote of such elector shall be counted against such annexation. In all particulars not herein recited said election.sholl be held in conformity as near as may be, with the laws of the State of California concerning general elections and with said Annexation Act of 1913. Section 3. For the purpose of holding said election there shall be and hereby are established six (6) precincts designated as hereinafter stated. The polling places for said precincts shall be the places hereinafter designated and the persons hereinafter named, being competent and qualified electors and residents of said territory and of said election election precincts, are hereby appointed officers of election and they shall hold said election and make return thereof in the manner provided by law. Lydick Resolution No. 72-112/Page Sof For their services in connection with said election, said Inspector shall receive Twenty -Five Dollars ($25.00) and said Judges and Clerks Twenty -One Dollars ($21.00) each; and the person in possession of the polling places named herein shall receive for the use of such premises in connection with said election the sum of Twenty -Five Dollars ($25.00).
