Savannah Beach, 'ybee Island, Ga, October'6th 1932. The regular meeting of Council was held to -day. at ,4:00 p.sj.,and was attended by Mayor Gamble, who presided, and Councilmen Loan Blumehthal and Demers: and Cann, Town Attorney McIntyre, Mr. E.B. Izlar and Mr. A.P.Solomon,jr. The Mayor called the meeting to order. Mr. Izlar was requested to present his petition - he said that his reason for appearing before Council was to try and get the Eastern extension of lot 94, ward 4, to the low water mark, adjusted, in 1905 the Georgia Legislature authorized the Town to sell the east ern portion of lots 94- 95 -96, ward 4,*a special act of theLegis- lature authorized the Town to sell to °. .B©han,yo high water mark, through the oversight of the attorneys drawing up the deeds the boundaires were omitted, the proper desrciption of the prop- erty was not made, he asked that if this statement was correct would the Town recognize the extensi1 to the high water nark as his property.of lot 94, ward 4. Mr. Izlar also said that-by warted,tO take up the natter of his 1932 taxea,, which ate atap-reeent unpaid, due to the poor season financially, just closed he did not make any Money, he would like to sell one of his lots to the Town to assist him in paying his taxes, if the Town does not buy it he does not know what to do, -Mr Izlar was excused, the matter of lot extension wasreferred to the Town Attorney for handling as to the sale of the lot to the Town,Council was of the opinion that it should not be done. Mr. A.P.Solomon,jr., representing the TT !.'W presented a letter from the President of the compan$ outlining a new proposition in connection°withthe proposed waterworks system, as follows; 52 Mr Cann said that one of the clauses that he objected to was that the TWW should not be intere'ered with by the Town for a period of five years in consideration of the TWW ftkrni shing water to the Town - Mr..Solomon that clause had 'been eliminated Mr Cann said that the. RFC had requested that the TWW be put un- der the Phi Commission - the Mayor said that the Town is still working on the municipal plant idea - Mr Demere asked what assurance the TWW had of getting the money from the RFC - Mr Solomon said every assurance- Mr Cann suggested that in the event that the legislature refuses to put the TWW under the PSC what would happen then Mr McIntyre said that if that should occur why no4 place them under the Mayor and Council Mr Solomon said he knew of the objections to the water rates by the property owners - Mr Cann asked if the TWW hid a modern plant would it not increase the income.- Mr Solomon said that depended on the HP - the Mayor asked about and extension down Third Avenue - Mr Solomon said that he did not figure on that - the Mayor said that if the TWW holds up the Town's plans it could push things ahead in Washington - Mr Solomon said that the TWW invariably operates at a loss - Mr Cann asked him if, in speaking of loss does that take into consideration his salary,- Mr Solomon said No - Mr Cann asked Mr Solomon what income doe -the TWW have and what salaries are paid - Mr Sol- omon ea di that the imcome is about 3 7000.00, his salary is $ 2400.00, engineer $ 600.00 - the Mayor asked id anyone wanted to ascertain anything further from Mr Solomon and as no one did Mr Solomons was excused - Mr Blumenthkl suggested that the Water Committee and the TownAttorney should go into the matter thoroughly.- Dr... Righton said that he didnt think that the Town could get the money from the RFC - Mr Cann said if the TWW could be gotten under the PSC it would be a fine thing, also that tie Town has a contract with the JBMcCCo., if this can disposed of honorably it should be done as the new plan just submitted by the TWW is much more favorable - the Mayor asked if matters could be adjusted with the JBMcCCo., and suggested that negotiations be carried on with the TWW under the New plan submitted by them. In the matter of the housing of the schoolteacher at the is- land in the cottage furnished by the Town the Mayor said that he had written a letter to Mr. 0.B.Strong'suggesting that dur- ing the time when the school is not in session that rent be charged for the of of the cottage, if occupied bybthe teacher and Mr. Strong had written that this was agreeable. Mr Cann suggested that taxes be collected monthly next year, the Mayor suggested coloecting them quarterly - Mr Cann said there was plenty of time to consider it.
