A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARSON AMENDING RESOLUTION 70-020 AUTHORIZING
THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION FOR GRANT TO ACQUIRE
AND DEVELOP OPEN SPACE LAND
WHEREAS, Title VII of the Housing Act of 1961, as amended, provides for
the making of grants by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to states and
local public bodies to assist them in the acquisition and development of permanent interests
in land for open -space uses where such assistance is needed for carrying out a unified or
officially coordinated program for the provision and development of open space land as
part of the comprehensively planned development of the urban area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Carson (herein sometimes referred to as "Applicant")
desires to acquire and develop fee simple interest land known as Site "A" and Site "B" of
this application, which land is to be held and used for permanent open -space land for
neighborhood park sites; and
WHEREAS, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the regulations
of the Department of Housing and Urban Development effectuating that Title, provide that
no person shall be discriminated against because of race, color, or national origin in the
use of the land acquired and/or developed; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 70-020 was heretofore adopted by the City Council
authorizing an application for a grant to acquire and develop open space -land and such
application was approved for $765,000.00 in acquisition costs, $360,000.00 in development
costs and $58,500.00 in relocation payments; and
WHEREAS, one parcel was inadvertently omitted from such application and,
accordinly, from such grant, and provision should be made for the inclusion of such parcel; and
WHEREAS, demolition costs were not included in such application, and such
costs are estimated to be $6,000.00; and
WHEREAS, it is now estimated that the total amount of relocation payments
to be made to eligible site occupants displaced from property being acquired will be $68,650.00.
OF CARSON: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
Section 1. That an application be filed with the Department of Housing and
Urban Development pursuant to Title VII of the Housing Act of 1961, as amended, to amend the
grant made under Open Space Land Grant Program, CAL-OSC-417, by increasing the total
amount of said grant to $1,204,886.00. Such amount to include the following items:
a. Acquisition costs $770,236.00 - an increase of $5,230.00;
b. Development costs $360,000.00 - no change;
C. Demolition costs $6,000.00 - an increase of $6,000.00;
d. Relocation payments $68,650.00 - an increase of $47,450.00.
Section 2. That the legal description of Site "B" of the Open Space Land
Grant Program, CAL-OSC-417, be amended to include the following boundaries:
That portion of said Lot 14 described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the aforementioned southerly prolongation
of the easterly line of said Lot 237 with the aforementioned northerly line
of Sepulveda Boulevard; thence North 0006'37" East 623.96 feet along
said southerly prolongation of the easterly line of Lot 237 to the southerly
line of said Lot 237; thence South 89053'23" East 13.60 feet along the
easterly prolongation of said southerly line of Lot 237; thence South 0022'58"
West 420.61 feet; thence South 0002'19" West 202.97 feet to a point on

said northerly Fine of Sepulveda Boulevard, distant easterly thereon
11.86 feet from the point of beginning; thence westerly along last
said northerly line 11.86 feet to the point of beginning.

I, Marilyn R. Cortina, City Clerk of the City of Carson, California, do
hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of the City of Carson,
is five; that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 72-087, was duly and regularly
adopted by the City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and
regularly held on the 2nd day of January, 1973, and that the some was so passed and adopted
by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Bridgers, Calas, Smith, Yamamoto and
Marbut.
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None.
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None.
