THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SEPTEMBER 15, 2005
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M.,
Thursday, September 15, 2005, in the Community Room at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th
Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members John Kenny, Dian Lawson and
Mary Jo Flood. Also attending were Fire Chief Mike Crawley, Terry Dull City Engineer, and
Terri Quinter Roseview Transit Director.
The following business was conducted:
CALL TO ORDER
Kenny called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that all board members were
present. He also explained that legal counsel was unable to attend
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Kenny made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the September 8, 2005 meeting.
Flood made a motion to approve with a second by Lawson. The motion was unanimously
passed.
CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT
Kenny made a request to the board to approve the claims for payment in the amount of
$260,352.24. He told the board some of the significant amounts were monthly legal services for
the law department was $7,725.00. Richmond Power & Light for street light was $56,700.00.
Software for the Fire Department was $5,000. Thermal imaging camera for the Fire Department
was $7,500.00. Paving projects was $5,400.00. Crosswalks downtown was $17,700. Building
demolition was $7,450.00. Insurance premium was $56,375.00. Lawson made a motion to
approve with a second by Flood. The motion was unanimously passed.
BID OPENING
A. Kenny opened bids for the Electric garage door eyes for the fire stations. Those bids
were as follows
1. Overhead Door for $7,000
2. Scott Door Inc. for $9,128

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS
On Sunday, October 2, area churches will once again come together in a Life Chain to promote
respect for life. The Life Chain is schedule to be held from 2:00 — 3:00 pm. A registration table
will be set up in the area across from the Court House, the same as last year. The Life Chain is
the north side of South A Street beginning at the Court House and going east as far as they need
to go.
REQUEST
Kenny brought to the board a request that was presented by City Engineer Terry Dull and Terry
Quinter Roseview transit Director for the approval to raise fares for the bus passes due to the
increase of gas prices. The regular pass was $28.00 and will go up $38.00. The special pass was
$20.00 and will go up to $30.00. Regular boarding was $1.00 and will go up to $1.50; Special
boarding was $.75 and will go up to $1.25. The increase will start October 1st. The night bus will
continue. Lawson made a motion to approve with a second by Flood. The motion was
unanimously passed.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed unanimously. The
meeting was adjourned.
