The Village is pursuing electrical aggregation and Illinois law requires the Village to place a referendum on the ballot to ask voters for the authority to aggregate electric accounts and seek bids for power generation. The following referendum question will appear on the March primary ballot: “Shall the Village of Plainfield have the authority to arrange for the supply of electricity for its residential and small commercial retail customers who have not opted out of such a program?” Electric Aggregation is a program that allows local gover nments to bundle, or aggregate, residential and small commercial retail electric accounts and seek bids for a cheaper supply of power. By bundling residential and small commercial accounts, municipaliti es can go out into the open market to seek a lower rate for electrical supply. If the referendum is approved, the Village will join forces with the Will County Governmental League and other municipalities to request proposals for electricity. Residents will have the opportunity to opt out of the program if they wish. For more information on electrical aggregation, visit www.willelectricaggregation.org. Early Voting Village and Plainfield Township residents can vote early at the Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport Street, through Friday, March 16. Early voting is available Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, and Saturday from 9 am to noon. State law requires that registered voters show valid photo identification before voting early.
