A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARSON AUTHORIZING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO
NEGOTIATE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF
CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL FOR THE CITY'S PARTICIPA-
TION IN THE ABANDONED VEHICLE ABATEMENT (AVA)
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, on May 23, 1973, the City Council of the City of Carson passed
"The Abandoned Vehicle Ordinance", Ordinance No. 73-259, which institutes a program
for the removal of abandoned vehicles from private and public property, except highways;
and
WHEREAS, such Ordinance is presently in effect in the City of Carson; and
WHEREAS, such Ordinance complies with all of the requirements of the
California Vehicle Code Sections 22660 and 22710; and
WHEREAS, the City of Carson is eligible and desires to participate in the AVA
Program, pursuant to which the City of Carson will receive reimbursement for abatement costs
incurred in implementing the City's "Abandoned Vehicle Ordinance"; and
WHEREAS, the Department of California Highway Patrol has been given the
responsibility for establishing, implementing and administering the AVA Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carson,
that the City Administrator is authorized and directed to negotia#4 with the Department of
California Highway Patrol an agreement implementing the City of Carson's participation in
the AVA Program, for the reimbursement to the City of Carson of abatement costs incurred
in the implementation of the City's "Abandoned Vehicle Ordinance".
