HomeMy Public PortalAbout74-020RESOLUTION NO. 74-020 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON FINDING THAT CERTAIN AUTOMOBILE DISMANT- LING YARDS, AUTOMOBILE IMPOUNDING YARDS, AND JUNK AND SALVAGE YARDS HAVE NOT COMPLIED WITH THE CARSON MUNICIPAL CODE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO SEEK INJUNCTION AND OTHER RELIEF WHEREAS, the Carson Municipal Code requireR the operators and owners of Automobile Dismantling Yards, Automobile Impounding Yards, and Junk and Salvage Yards, among other things, to: (1) erect solid walls around their yards; (2) landscape frontages abutting upon public streets; (3) plant tall trees along side and rear walls that abut upon- residential areas or elevated freeways; (5) install solid gates at the yard entrances; (5) provide off-street parking; (6) pave the entire yard area; (7) provide drainage; (8) reduce all stacks of wwcked or dismantled vehicles, salvage or junk to a height no greater than that of the surrounding walls; (9) file plot and preliminary architectural plans with the Director of Planning; and (1) operate only in M-2, M-3 and M-4 zones with a Special Use Permit; and WHEREAS, the City Staff and the City Attorney's office have inspected the following yards and found that they do not comply with all or some of the aforesaid pro- visions of the Carson Zoning Ordinance: (a) Carson Truck Parts & Equipment Company 17120 South Figueroa Street (b) Burgeno Bros. Salvage 331 West Francisco Street (c) Willies Auto Wrecking 18938 South Broadway (d) Broadway Auto Wrecking 18938 -1/2 South Broadway (e) Broadway - Main Auto 19031 South Main Street (f) D & W Auto Parts 17310 South Main Street (g) Torrance Auto Wrecking 21301 South Main Street NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the yards specified herein are found to be in violation of the Carson Zoning Ordinance; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney is authorized to take whatever legal action is necessary against any or all of the yards specified herein, collectively or individually, to prevent said yards from being operated in violation of the Municipal Code. The City Attorney is further authorized to proceed against any of the yards specified herein in whatever order he deems proper. ATTEST: Res.
