AN ORDINANCE RENAMING A SECTION OF WEST FIRST STREET AS PHILLIP MEACHAM WAY
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Police Chief submitted a request to the E911 Advisory Board to
rename a section of West First Street to honor fallen Hopkinsville Police Officer Phillip Meacham; and
WHEREAS, the Hopkinsville-Christian County E911 Advisory Board on July 10, 2020 favorably
recommended renaming a section of West First Street as Phillip Meacham Way.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HOPKINSVILLE, KENTUCKY AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE
That a 768 foot section of West First Street running west from the intersection of North Main
Street and East First Street to Riverfront Drive, as further described on Exhibit A attached hereto and
incorporated herein by reference, is hereby renamed Phillip Meacham Way.
SECTION TWO
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance is held unconstitutional or
otherwise invalid, such infirmities shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
SECTION THREE
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION FOUR
This ordinance shall take effect after its passage and publication according to law.
