A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARSON, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE
SPECIAL ELECTION TO ANNEX "ANNEXATION NO. 5
(WEST CARSON UNINCORPORATED AREA)" TO THE CITY
OF CARSON HELD ON THE 4TH DAY OF JUNE, 1974,
DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER
MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BYLAW
WHEREAS, a special annexation election was held and conducted in the County
of Los Angeles, State of California, in the area known as "Annexation No. 5 (West Carson
Unincorporated Area)", on Tuesday, the 4th day of June, 1974, as required by law; and
WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given in the time,
form and manner provided by law; and said election was consolidated with the statewide
election held on said date; that election officers were appointed and that in all respects said
election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and canvassed and the
returns made and declared in the time, form and manner required by the provisions of the
Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections; and
WHEREAS, the Registrar -Recorder of the County of Los Angeles did canvass the
votes cast and has reported the results thereof to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, on the 15th day of July, 1974, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M.,
the City Council duly assembled at its usual place of meeting and did receive the results of
such canvass of the returns of said election, as a result of which the City Council finds the
number of votes cast and other matters required by law to be as stated hereinafter.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON,
CALIFORNIA , DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 . That at said Special Annexation Election the following measure
was submitted tohectors, to wit:
"Shall Annexation No. 5 (West Carson Unincorporated Area) be annexed to
the City of Carson?"
Section 2. That the whole number of votes cast in said election (except
absent voter ba ots) -was two thousand six hundred ninety four (2,694).
That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in said election was sixty
eight (68), making a total of two thousand seven hundred sixty two (2,762) votes cast in said
election.
Section 3. That the number of votes given at said precincts for and against
the measure were as set forth on the Registrar -Recorder's report consisting of three pages, a
true and correct copy of which is hereto attached.
Section 4. The City Council does declare and determine that:
As a result of said election,a majority of the qualified voters voting on said
measure relating to the annexation of "Annexation No. 5 (West Carson Unincorporated Area)"
to the City of Carson did not vote in favor thereof, and that said proposition did not pass.
Section 5. The City Clerk shall enter, on the records of the City Council of
said City statement of the result of said election, showing -
1 . The whole number of votes cast in the election .
2. The measure voted upon.
3. The number of votes cast at the polls and by absentee ba l lot .
4. The number of votes given in the election for and against said
measure.

Section 6. That the City Cldrk.shall certify to the passage and adoption of
this resolution; s -enter the same in the book of original resolutions of said City; and shall
crake a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the minutes of the meeting of the City
Council at which the same is passed and adopted.

I, Helen S. Kawagoe, City Clerk of the City of Carson, California, do
hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of said City is five;
that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 74-132, was duly and regularly adopted
by the City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly
held on the 15th day of July, 1974, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the
following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: Bridgers, Marbut, Yamamoto and Calas
NOES: COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Smith
