A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARSON ENDORSING THE EFFORTS OF THE CITY OF
CARSON SISTER CITY COMMITTEE IN RAISING FUNDS
TO AID OUR SISTER CITY, SINAIT
WHEREAS, the City of Carson has formed a Sister City Committee within
the City for the purpose of affiliating in a Sister City relationship with the municipality
of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines; and
WHEREAS, this affiliation, sanctioned by Sister Cities International, a
member of the Town Affiliation Association, has been formed to foster and promote mutual
understanding and goodwill between the citizenry of the City of Carson and Sinait, Ilocos
Sur; and
WHEREAS, Sinait, Ilocos Sur, has suffered severe structural damage to its
municipal hall, school building and residences during the last week of October, 1974, when
six typhoons devastated Northern Luzon, the island upon which Sinait is located; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and citizens of Sinait have appealed to the Sister City
Committee of Carson for aid in repairing and rebuilding damaged structures, including the
school building which was destroyed, causing school classes to be suspended; and
WHEREAS, the Sister City Committee of the City of Carson has responded
to this appeal in the spirit of goodwill and brotherly love by initiating a fund raising
campaign within the City to aid Sinait; and
WHEREAS, a successful effort to assist our Sister City necessarily will
involve the cooperation and dedication of each and every citizen of Carson.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Carson enthusiastically endorses the efforts of the City of Carson Sister City Committee to
aid our Sister City of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, in their time of need and encourages
the citizens of Carson to respond to the appeal of Sinait by aiding the Committee in all
ways possible.

I, Helen S. Kawagoe, City Clerk of the City of Carson, California, do
hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of said City is five;
that the foregoing resolution, being Resolution No. 74-219, was duly and regularly adopted
by the City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly
held on the 9th day of December 1974, and that the same was so passed
and adopted by the following vote:
