HomeMy Public PortalAboutAAC Minutes 1988 08/03ATTENDING: Bill Williams Lyn Clark Rick Fereday Bud Schmidt AIRPORT COMMITTEE August 3, 1988 1. NDB STATUS: The beacon is operational. Members reported that it is functioning and asked for additional copies of the planned approach. Monitoring devices remain to be installed. 2. TIE -DOWN CHAINS: Twenty additional sets have been purchased and installed as requested at the last meeting. 3. MEMBERSHIP: Jim Sproat has indicated he would like to remain on the committee though his attendance may be erratic. 4. MISC. ITEMS: (A) Weed and grass cutting on the taxiway perimeters were reviewed. (B) Removal of large rocks from the borrow pits was discussed. (C) Electricity at the CAP building (Old Tanker Base) is not connected or turned on. (D) "Bomber Buffs": Status and policy of the observers who have parked in the clear zone and have been asked not to park there were discussed. The City will be grading the Jacob St. right-of-way as an alternative observation point. (E) Rotary Snow Plow: If the airport needs opening, the new county rotary plow may be of help. (F) "No Parking" signs at South end of new grass: An additional sign to deter parking on the grass was suggested. 5. FY 1988-89 BUDGET: The Airport budget as prepared was reviewed. The Committee asked that the estimate ending balance be budgeted as an expense as follows: "AIP project reserve or Unicom radio replacement at $5744." This would leave a zero (0) year end fund balance. 6. 1988 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT: Construction is scheduled to begin August 8, 1988. A pre -construction conference is scheduled for August 3 at 1:30 P.M. (same date as this meeting). The committee is invited to attend and voice concerns about operations and safety.
