Ch apman, SECRETARY • Raymond P. Brixey, LIASON Commissioner Greg Chapman called the September 16, 2010 meet ing of the Board of Police Commissioners to order at 5:00 p.m. In addition to Commissioner Chapman in attendance were Commissioner Ray Brixey, Jeff Savitsky , Chief Doster, and recording secretary, Kathy Glavac. The minutes of the April 29, 2010 regular meeting and May 20, 2010 spe cial meeting were read. There being no clarifications or correcti ons, Commissioner Brixey moved that the minutes from the meetings of April 29, 2010 and May 20, 2010 be appro ved. Commissioner Chapman seconded the motion. The motion carried and the minutes were approved as read. Correspondence: Commissioner Chapman moved that and invo ice received from Elsevier for the purchase of Sergeant reading materials i n the amount of $443.72 and an invoice received from the Enterprise Newspaper for the le gal ad placed for the Sergeant exam in the amount of $46.00 be approved for payment. Commissione r Brixey seconded the motion. The motion carried and the invoices will be s ubmitted for payment. Public Comments – None Pending Business – There are fourteen (14) officers who ha ve signed a letter of intent to take the Sergeant promotional exam on Sunday, October 3, 2010. The oral interview portion of the exam will take place on October 13 and 14, 2010 beginning at approximately 9:00 a.m. Definite times to be determined and officers wil l be notified in writing as to their scheduled interview time. The appeal session will take place on October 3, 2010 bet ween 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. and the Commissioners will meet on October 4 between 5:00 an d 6:00 p.m. to rule on any appeals. The Commissioners will meet one hour prior to the sta rt of the oral exams for training with the testing company. Definite times will be determined a nd written notices will be sent. There has always been an outside law enforcement comm and staff member who sits on the oral interview board. Chief Doster has stated, he will contact this person, though he did not mention names, but will advise the board as soon as he c onfirms their availability. 14300 S. He suggested that we a pprise him of those that have successfully completed the written portion of the exam and he will assist in scheduling their interviews based upon the individual candidate’s work schedul e. The candidates’ performance evaluations will be given to Commission Se cretary, Kathy Glavac to average and compile a list for the Board of Police Commissioners to be distributed to the Board upon completion of the oral interview process. The Commis sioners will then review Secretary Glavac’s work and proceed to report these numbers to the testing company so they can complete the scoring process and compile an initial eli gibility list. Jeffrey Savitsky from IPSP, the testing company, hired by the Commission to perform the Sergeant Promotional Exam, presented the Board with th e following documents regarding the Sergeant Promotional Exam: Job Analysis for the position of Sergeant and Interview Exit Survey Results. The Commissioners took a few moments to review the documents while Mr. Savitsky explained the Job Analysis packet was based upon a survey conducted by officers of the Plainfield Police Department regarding the duties of a Sergeant and the Interview Exit Survey resulted in a survey taken after the last Sergean t’s Exam regarding the testing process. New Business – Commission Secretary Kathy Glavac request ed a change of dates for the Commission October 21, 2010 and November 18, 2010 meetings due to her class schedule at Joliet Junior College. The Commissioners were very accommodating and agreed to reschedule the meetings for October 20 and November 17, 2010 res pectively. Secretary Glavac is very grateful and appreciative for their flexib ility and support of her continued education.
