HomeMy Public PortalAbout2011-03-17 Police Commission minutesVillage of Plainfield Board of Police Commissioners Minutes – March 17, 2011 Commissioner Michael Nott called the March 17, 2011 meeting of the Board of Police Commissioners to order at 7:00 p.m. In addition to Commissioner Nott, in attendance were Commissioners Greg Chapman and Raymond Brixey, Commander Ken Ruggles and recording secretary, Kath y Glavac. The minutes of the February 17, 2011 meeting were read. There being no clarifications or corrections, Commissioner Chapman moved the minutes be approved as read. Commissioner Nott seconded the m otion. All in favor. The motion carried and the minutes were approved as rea d. Correspondence – Invoices received from Chicago Of fice Products for computer ink in the amount of $121.96 and Office De pot for office supplies in the amount of $86.96. Secretary Glavac will review the amount of the Office Depot receipt as returns are being made. A follow up to a phone message received from Ryan Price regarding his employment application, Commissioner Nott spoke to attorney John Broihier regarding this matter. Per attorney Broihier, worki ng to expunge items from his employment application would not be beneficial to M r. Price’s employment status with the Village of Plainfield. Commissione r Nott then called Mr. Price to relay the message. Officer James Caliendo has notified the Board of P olice Commissioners that he has rescinded his request for an appeal hea ring. Public Comments – None. Commissioner Nott moved that the meeting be moved to executive session at 7:15 p.m. for the purpose of discussing personnel matters. The meeting was called out of executive session at 7:24 p.m. A Notice of Charges was presented to the Commissio n. Commissioner Nott will contact Commission attorney, John Broihie r for guidance, proper procedures and necessary notifications regarding th is matter. Page 2 Minutes 3/17/11 Plainfield Police Commission Pending Business – The Commission has begun a revie w and update of the current Rules and Regulations. All parties hav e had the opportunity to read the current Rules and Regulations and were ready to proceed. The Commissioners took time to discuss every section of the Rules and Regulations as they apply to the current hiring process and make a djustments for future hiring practices. This is a work in process and will con tinue on to the next regular meeting of the Board. New Business – In conjunction with reviewing the Ru les and Regulations of the Board, the Commissioners also discusses ways in which to update and streamline the current police officer hiring and te sting process. Ideas discussed included, combining the orientation and written exa ms on the same day and changing the power test currently used to a work re lated agility test. These discussions will continue throughout the Rules and Regulations change process. At 9:12 Commissioner Brixey moved the meeting be a djourned and the review process continue at the next regular meeting of the Board, scheduled for April 21, 2011. Commissioner Chapman seconded the motion, agreeing there was no further discussion or business. All in favo r. The meeting was adjourned.
