A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD TO
AUTHORIZE A UTILITY LATE FEE IN THE AMOUNT OF $8 FOR RESIDENTIAL
ACCOUNTS
WHEREAS, the utility late fee was approved in conjunction with the FY 15
Budget; and
WHEREAS, the utility late fee was implemented in April 2015; and
WHEREAS, per request of the Mayor and Councilmember Castro, staff
conducted a Utility Late Fee Survey of nearby cities; and
WHEREAS, based on survey results of nearby cities, there may be a need to
reduce the utility late fee.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. In an effort to reduce the existing utility late fee (10 %), the City
Council authorizes a utility late fee in the amount of $8. The $8 flat fee will be incurred
15 calendar days after the due date. The $8 flat fee will only be for residential accounts
(4 units or less). The utility late fee will remain at 10% for commercial accounts (5 units
or more).
Section 2. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption.
