Park Street, McCall ID _ DEVELOPMENT Legion Hall / Conference Call COMMITTEE MEETING— Began at 5:30 p.m. • CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL Committee members Karla Eitel (via phone), Craig Vroom, Dallas Young (via phone), and Susan Farber(via video) and were present. Also, in attendance was Delta James, Economic Development Planner. • MINUTES APPROVAL [ACTION ITEM] Dallas moved, Sue seconded a motion to approve the minutes from the May 24, 2021 as submitted. All members voted"aye"and the motion passed. • MCCALL PUBLIC ART PLANNING AND POLICY • Work session with City Council to present Public Art 5 Year CIP: Staff recommended that a work session with City Council be scheduled in early 2022 to engage any new council members. • EXISTING COLLECTION AND MAINTENANCE • "Going to School" lease agreement renewal: Staff reported that the lease agreement has been approved by City Council and issued to the artist's family for signature. • Owl wood carving at Library: Craig volunteered to contact John Schultz, mentor of the high school student that created this piece, to inquire about best maintenance or treatment to give the piece. • PUBLIC ART PROJECTS Laidlaw Our Confluence: The Laidlaws will host a studio tour July 1, 4-5 pm at 460 Krahn Lane. July 13 is the anticipated install date. Westover Mill Whistle: Staff reported that October 28 is the target date to sound the mill whistle. This will be 44 years to the date from when the McCall Mill closed in 1977 and the whistle was last heard. MDSD Hometown Arts Bus Shelters: No report. • NEXT PROJECT SELECTION —DOWNTOWN MURAL PROJECT • Downtown Mural Project: Craig reported that funding via LOT had a lot of demand and so the downtown project was not put onto the funding list. Staff reported that the project is near the top of the contingency list for funding, which will likely result in funding late in FY22 if current LOT collection trends continue. The committee thanked Craig for his service on the LOT Commission. • Public Art for Library Expansion: Staff reported that a budget request of $62,000 has been requested from FY22 City Budget and that staff will submit a National Endowment for the Arts grant for an additional $25,000 for the project. • CAPACITY AND PROMOTION • $1000 Fundraising Goal/Special Event discussion: Susan suggested that an Arts & Crafts show(i.e. quilts, cake decorating)with no entrance fee be offered with donations.
