Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga.
March 3rd, 1933.
A regular meeting of Council was held to -day at 4:00 p.m. and was
attended by Mayor J.C.Lewis,who presided, and Councilmen Cann,
Sharpley,Blumenthal,Righton and Town Attorney McIntyre.
New contract submitted by TWWCo., discuss_ed,Councilman Cann made
motion that representatives of TRW be requested toattend meeting
of Council and discuss their proposition, Councilman Sharpley,
seconded, passed.
Mr. Willaim H.Taylor appointed Plumbing lsnpecbtr by Mayr Lewis,
in place of Inspector Waters.
Petition of J.H.Diseker to operate a taxicab under a Spanish -
American War Veterans dertificate. Granted.
Report of Committee that called on Mr. Tiedeman in reference to
transferring Mr.Broughton to ether duties and placing Mr. Bryan
in charge of Ole camp, was that Mr. Tiedeman objected to it -com-
mittee was informed that he would send man down to do work of
Mr. Bryan, after some discussion it was dedided to appoint Mr.
Bryan as Superintendent of Public Works, his duties being that
of mosquito control inspector,building inspector,plumbing inspector,
electrical inspector and whatever other duties were required of him

The destruction of three cottages at LovA.1 Station,ttle property of
Mrs. L.E.Edwards,Mrs.D.B.McTntyre and Mrs. J.C.Slater, by fire on
the night of March 2nd, was received as information.
A communication was received from theCRR advising that they will
continue to operatex the bus service to and from the island.
On motion of Councilman Righton,seconded by Councilman Cann, the
following Ordinance was adopted;
ORD INANCE .
AN ORDINANCE to be entitled " An Ordinance to provide for
the assessment for taxation purposes of any improvemen4s upon any
lot or lots within the eoporate limits now or hereafter of Savannah
Beach,Tybee Is4and,Georgia, made after May 1st of any year and also
to assess for taxation purposes any alterations,enlargements and/or
reconditioning of any improvements on any lot o,lots insaid town
made after May 1st of any year and for ether purposes ".
SECTION 1 BE. IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and C uncilmen of
Savannah Beach,Tycee Island,Georgia, in council assembhed, that from
and after the passage of this ordinance an improvements made by the
building orerection of houses or other structures upon vacant proper -
ty,after Mey 1st of any year, within the present or hereafter con-
stituted limits of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, shall,
upon completion thereof, be assessed for taxation purposes at the
value thereof, to be determined by theappropriate committee of
Council. Thereupon upon the first day of the month following such
assessment taxes shall be paid upon such improvement or structure
at the same time and in the same manner,for the balance of the
fiscal year of said town, as taxes upon real estate in said town
are paid.
SECTION 2 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the authority afore-
said that should any improvement or structure, existing upon any
lot of lots within the now or hereafter constituted limits of said
town,be changed, altered, enlarged,repaired or reconditioned so as
to increase the value of said improvements or structure as the same
existed upon May lst of any year, the same shall be revalued for
taxation purposes the appropriate committee of council, and there -
aftertaxes shall be paid thereon, commencing the first month
following the completion of the work, at the assessed value thereof
and such taxes shall be payable at the same time and in the same
manner as taxes upon upon realer sate are paid.
SECTION 3 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the authority afore-
said that any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflcit
with tinis ordinance be and the same are hereby repealed.
