HomeMy Public PortalAbout77-248J 1 RESOLUTION NO, 77-248 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF AN ADVISORY ELECTION TO BE HELD IN CONSOLIDATION WITH THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 7TH DAY OF MARCH, 1978, FOR THE SUB- MISSION TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY OF A CERTAIN QUESTION RELATING TO CASH PRIZES FOR BINGO GAMES CONDUCTED BY CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to general law cities in the State of Califomia, the City Council of the City of Carson has by Resolution No. 77-242, called a regular general municipal election to be held on the 7th day of March, 1978, fbr the election of two members of the City Council of said City fbr the full term of four years, a City Clerk of said City for the full term of four years, and a City Treasurer of said City for the full term of four years and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carson also desires to submit to the qualified electors of said City at said election the question hereinafter set forth far the purpose of allowing the voters to indicate to the City Council approval or disapproval of the ballot proposal by advisory vote. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. Pursuant to the requirements of the laws of the State of Colifomia re sting to general law cities within>said State, there shall be, and there is hereby, called and ordered held in the City of Carson, County of Los Angeles, State of California, on Tuesday, the 7th day of March 1978, an advisory election of the qualified electors of said City to be held in consolidation with the regular general municipal election of said City to be held on said date pursuant to said Resolution No. 77-242. SECTION 2. Said City Council, pursuant to its right and authority so to do, does hereby determine that there shall be and there is hereby ordered submitted to the qualified electors of said City at said advisory election, to be held in consolidation with said regular general municipal election, the following question, to wit: PROPOSITION A ADVISORY VOTE ONLY Should the City of Carson adopt a Bingo Ordinance permitting payment of cash prizes up to YES two hundred fifty dollars per game conducted by charitable organizations instead of the NO present limitation to merchandise not to exceed 25 dollars in value Res. No. 77-248/Page 2 of 2 A cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "YES" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the question or proposition. A cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "NO" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted against the adoption of the question or proposition. SECTION 3. The ballots to be used as said advisory election shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such cis may be required by low to ' be used thereat. SECTION 4. The City Clerk of saidCity is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said advisory election. SECTION 5. In all particulars not recited in this resolution, said advisory election shall be held and conducted as provided in said Resolution No. 77-242 and by low for holding municipal elections in said City. SECTION 6. Notice of the time and place of holding said advisory election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to give such further or additional notice of said advisory election in time, form and manner as required by low. SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the some in the book of original Resolutions of said City, and shall mace a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
