Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga.
May 29th, 1933
A special meeting of Council was held to -day at 4:00 P. m.,
and was attended by Mayor Lewis, who presided, and Councilmen
Cann, Sharpley, Blumenthal, Righton, Demers, Logan, and Town At-
torney McIntyre.
Councilman Sharpley informed Council that the Tybee Water
Works was not installing the new water system as they were sup-
posed to, that some of the plugs were not placed where they
should be. The map that is part of the contract with the Tybee
Water Works shows locations different from the map originally
presented by the Bybee Water Works during the negotiations. The
Clerk was instructed to try and get the original map from Mr. A. F.
Solomon, Jr.
The matter of building a road on 7th Street west of 3rd Ave.
to facilitate the handling of garbage was brought up by Council-
man Righton, Councilman Cann moved that a committee be appointed
consisting of Councilmen Logan, Righton, and Sharpley, and be em-
powered to build the road at a cost of not over $100.00, Council-
man Blumenthal seconded, and the motion passed.
Petition from Dr. R. V. Harris requesting permission to let
remain where it is the shed on Butler Ave, and 13th Street that
he recently purchased from the Central of Georgia Railroad. Coun-
cilman Righton moved permission be refused, seconded by Councilman
Blumenthal, and passed.
Petition of Mr. F. J. Robinson to buy or lease from the Town
the site now occupied by the turn table on the right of way of the
Central of Georgia Railroad was read. ue offered to give backAo the
Town at the end of 10 years any buildings that he had constructed
on this site in exchange for the privilege of using same. It was the
opinion of Council that as this is a public highway, it will be il-
legal either to sell or lease this to Mr. Robinson.
The Central of Georgia Railroad offered to give to the Town for
whatever purpose they wish to do with it, the turn table formerly
used by them. Councilman Logan moved that the offer be accepted,
Councilman Righton seconded same, and the motion passed.
The Central of Georgia Railroad offered to sell to the Town
for $250.00 the ticket office located at 15th Street and Butler Ave.,
but Councilman Blumenthal made a motion that the Mayor be permitted
to purchase the ticket office, the pergola running ajacent thereto,
and all the benches which are part of same for $250.00, Councilman
Righton seconded, and the motion passed.
Petition/ read Dr. R. V. Harris requesting the Town to clean out
the underbrush in the vicinity of Dixon Station ajacent to the beach
as it was a breeding place for mosquitos . Councilman Cann moved
that Councilman Righton get permission from the property owners in
this section to have this work done, this was seconded by Councilman
Logan, and the motion passed.

Petition from Mr. Toe Daniels requesting a street light on Atlan-
tic Ave. near the Sea- breeze Hotel. was presented. Council was of the
opinion this could not be done.
Frank Palmer petitioned that the license assessed against him Ofl
$10.00 be reduced, the petition was refused.
Discussion was had realtive to whether an ex,ra policeman should
be put on during the summer months at $75.00 per month, and it was de-
cided that it was not necessary.
Councilman Can suggested that a committee on beautification be
appointed to consist of about 10 ladies who are property owners or re-
sidents of the island.
The pay of the maid at the rest -room was increased to $15.00 per
month on motion of Councilman Righton, seconded by Councilman Logan,
and passed.
Co'ncilman Blumenthal moved that those business places in arears
on their licenses be given until June 1st to pay name, Councilman
Dighton seconded, and the motion passed.
Councilman Sharpley was requested to get a bill of material nec-
essary to repair some of the bad conditions of the jetties at Lo ell
Station.
Councilman Cann moved that as it was necessary to repair and
maintain some of the streets,that the Town purchase °one car of gravel,
Councilman Blumenthal seconded, and the motion passed, and the Clerk
was instructed to make the purchase.
Councilman Righton moved that that portion of the Tax Ordinance
relative to the license of non - intoxicating beverages be reduced to
$50.00, Councilman Blumenthal seconded, and the motion passed.
