A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF LYNWOOD RATIFYING
THE EMERGENCY SEWER REPAIR AT LONG BEACH BOULEVARD AND
TENAYA AVENUE AND THE PAYMENT OF $50,344.84 TO VALVERDE
CONSTRUCTION, INC.
WHEREAS, on August 24, 2015, staff determined that the connection of
the City's sewer pipeline, upstream to the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts'
connection had collapsed at Long Beach Boulevard and Tenaya Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works /City Engineer has determined
that an emergency exists and immediate repair of the City's pipeline and
connection to the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts' connection is needed
to prevent further damage to the street and sewer pipe line; and
WHEREAS, Valverde Construction, Inc. responded to the emergency call
in a timely manner; and
WHEREAS, Lynwood Municipal Code Section 6- 3.13(a)(1) provides an
exemption from the competitive bidding of any kind to purchase supplies,
equipment, routine or professional /special services when an emergency requires
that an order be placed with the most available source of supply.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council ratifies the emergency repair of the sewer
line at Long Beach Boulevard and Tenaya Avenue and the payment of
$50,344.84 to Valverde Construction, Inc.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this City Council
Resolution.
