A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF LYNWOOD
ACCEPTING BID AND APPROVING AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT TO CAL -CITY CONSTRUCTION FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $4,650,000 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE YVONNE BURKE-
JOHN D. HAM PARK COMMUNITY CENTER (CIP NO. 67 -007)
WHEREAS, on July 7, 2015, the City Council authorized the release of
Notice Inviting Bids for the construction of the Yvonne Burke -John D. Ham Park
Community Center, CIP No. 67 -007 (Project); and
WHEREAS, the Project was advertised and nineteen bids were received
on September 29, 2015; and
WHEREAS, one bid protest from Cal -City was filed and considered
untimely as set forth in the bid specifications and drawings; and
WHEREAS, although, sufficient funds to award the project are available in
the $5,691,144 budget approved by the City Council, based on anticipated
expenditures, this leaves only.a five percent (5 %) contingency; and
WHEREAS, Cal -City Construction, Inc. was determined to be the Lowest
Responsible Bidder with a bid of $4,650,000; and
WHEREAS, an Addendum to the Environmental Impact Report for the
Ham Park Replacement Project was prepared for the project pursuant to Section
15164(a) of the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines and approved by
the City Council on October 6, 2015; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council hereby approves the award • of
construction contract to Cal -City Construction, Inca for the construction of the
Yvonne Burke -John D. Ham Park Community Center.
Section 2. That the City Council authorizes the Mayor to execute a
contract in a form approved by the City Attorney in an amount not to exceed
$4,650,000.
Section 3. Should unforeseen conditions arise that 'exceed the current
contingency amount, staff would return to the City Council to seek an additional
appropriation or seek savings through possible reduction in scope.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.

Section 5. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this City
Council Resolution.
