Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga.
June 27th, 1933.
A special meeting of Council was held to -say at 11:30 A.M.,
and was attended by Mayor Lewis, who presided, and Councilmen
Sharpley ,Blumenthal,Righton,Demere and Cann and Town Attorney
McIntyre.
Councilman Demere reporting for the special committee appoint-
ed to call on the S.F.& P.Co., that Mr. Foss insisted that the
old bill against the Town be paid, as follows; 3 1000.00 cash
on July 1st and two notes for 1 and 2 years for the balance,
with interest, after some discussion Councilman Righton moved
that 500.00 be paid now, v 500.00 after Labor Day and that
the Finance Committee be given authority adjust the balance
due with power to act, this was seconded by Councilman Cann,
and the motion passed.
Discussion was had relative to borrowing funds from the R.F.C.
to take care of needed improvements of the Town, Councilman
Cann suggested that the Town should handle its requisition
along with. the City of Savannah and that a committee should
be appointed to handle this matter consisting of Councilmen
Sharpley and Logan and that a special citizens committee be
appointed to work with Councilmen Sharpley and Logan consist
ing of Messrs A.B.Lovett,as Chairman, F.M.Oliver, Dr. R.V.Har-
ris, J.P.Miller,J.H.VcKenna and Carl Espy, this met with the
approval of Council.
Dr. R.V.Harris was appointed Chairman of a Committee on
Beatification, he to appoint 10 property owners to serve with
him.
The Mayor was instructed to put on extra help when needed at
the Toll Gate.
Mrs. Cobb operating the Oliver cottage pepneeted the Mayor to
refund to her a fine imposed for operating a bath -house with-
out a license, Council decided that she would have to appeal
to Council for this refund.
Discussion was had relative to the purchasing of a truck to
take care of the needs of the Town, the Mayor was requested
see
what could be done about a reconditioned truck.
Councilman Sharpley informed Council that it would be hec-
essary to employe and extra engineer to assist him in get-
ting up draings,ect., of the proposed improvements to be
made on the island and requested authority to employe this
help when needed, Councilman Logan moved that the authority
be given Councilman Sharpley, this was seconded by Councilman
Cann and the motion passed.
There being no further business Council adjourned subject to
the call of the Mayor.
