A special meeting of Council was held today at 11:00 a.m. and was attended by Mayor Lewis,w#o presided, and Councilmen Conn, Sharpley,Righton, Blumenthal and Mr. J.H.Byington. Tr. Byington representing the Eureka Fire Hose Co,* submitted prices and made a proposition to finance the purchase by taking the note of the Town. Mr Byington was excused. After some discus sion it was decided that.nb1purchases,of fire equipment would be made at this time. The Towns financial conditton was discussed and the Treasurer was instructed to make personal calls on some of the Jelin- queht tax - payers and collect the taxes due the Town. Motion was made and seconded that all obstructions on streets be moved and that suitable signs beplaced, warning of danger, where necessary. Motion passgd. It was noted that llections from the parking spaces were considerably 14s rn year but no action was taken. Council was informed that efforts werebeing made to get sever- al units of the C.C.Corps placed at Port Screven. September 1st, 1933. 107 The regular meeting of Council was held to -day at 4 :00 p.m. and was attended by Mayor Lewis, who presided, and Councilmen Logan,Righton and Blumenthal and D.J.Sheehan. adopted. The meetings of the minutes of Julyl4,Aug.4th and 10th were read anpd Mr Sheehan petitioned against the removal of the posts p5Aced across Eighth street adjacent to his property, after slme dis- cussion he was excused. The amtter was deferred to the next meeting of Counvil. Mrs. C.M.Carter petitioned that she be reliAved of paying the balance due on her license, aftersome discussion it was de- • tided that the bicense be paid but that Mrs Carter be given an extension of time to pay same. The matter of collecting the rent due by the school- teacher for the use of the cottage occupied by her durigg the summer months was discussed and he Clerk was instructed to submit a bill to her and collect same. The finances of the Town were discussed but no action was taken the matter being referred to the next meeting of Council.
