HomeMy Public PortalAbout20181016 - Hopkinton Historic District Commission - Meeting MinutesTOWN OF HOPKINTON HOPKINTON HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 8:00 PM Senior Center, 28 Mayhew St, Hopkinton, MA MEETING MINUTES Committee Members Present: ​​Amy Ritterbusch, Beth Watson, Melanie Smith, Jeanette Thomson Committee Members Absent: ​​Beth Kelly, Mike Auen, Maryanne Chambers Also Present:​​ Georgia Wilson, Town Planner, and Corey Walker, Signorama 8:11 PM Amy Ritterbusch called the meeting to order 1.43 Main Street - Muffin House Cafe - Sign Review a.After a brief discussion, Melanie Smith made a motion that the Muffin House sign was an exterior architectural detail so insignificant as to its effect on the district that it could be reviewed without the need for a public hearing. The motion was seconded by Beth Watson. VOTE: Yes 4, No 0, Abstain 0 b.Certificate of Appropriateness - Corey Walker of Signorama presented on behalf of the applicant. He stated that he would be using the same sign band, painted the same color (black) and using the same letter material (formed plastic gold lettering). The commission gave the feedback that the typeface should less blocky and should be a little smaller, similar in size to the existing Hopkinton Gourmet lettering, 14” tall, and have some more space on the sides. Mr Walker had a catalog of typefaces with him and the commission looked through them with him and suggested he try Clarendon, Roman or Garamond fonts. The commission felt that they would like to see the new design before approving a certificate and scheduled another meeting for 10/22/18 at 6PM for this purpose. 2.Approve Meeting Minutes 09-12-18.
