HomeMy Public PortalAbout20181022 - Hopkinton Historic District Commission - Meeting MinutesTOWN OF HOPKINTON HOPKINTON HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Monday, October 22, 2018 at 6:00 PM Hopkinton Public Library (Conference Room), 13 Main St, Hopkinton, MA MEETING MINUTES Committee Members Present: ​​Amy Ritterbusch, Beth Watson, Jeanette Thomson, Maryanne Chambers, Melanie Smith (arrived a few minutes late) Committee Members Absent: ​​Beth Kelly, Mike Auen Also Present:​​ Corey Walker, Signorama 6:00 PM Amy Ritterbusch called the meeting to order ●43 Main Street - Muffin House Cafe - Sign Review - Certificate of Appropriateness (discussion continued from 10/16/18) ○Corey Walker of Signorama, on behalf of the applicant, presented three new options for typefaces. He recapped what he told us at the 10/16/18 meeting, that the background will be repainted the same color (black), with a gold box trim, the gold stars will be removed and replaced with new gold stars. The gold pineapples on the sides of the building, but visible from the street, will not be altered. Any holes on the sign-band from the removal of the old lettering will be covered/filled before repainting. Of the three typefaces presented, ​Style A​​ was approved, which Mr Walker stated was the first choice of the applicant. The letters will be 14.1” high for the first letter of each word (M. H. C.) and 12” high for other letters in the words. The material for the lettering will be formed plastic, like the existing Hopkinton Gourmet lettering. ○A motion was made by Jeanette Thomson and seconded by Beth Watson to approve a Certificate of Appropriateness for the new sign (Style A). ​VOTE: Yes 4, No 0, Abstain 0 ○Amy will ask Elaine Lazarus to notify adjoining property owners as specified in the bylaw. Melanie Smith arrived at this time. ●Approve Meeting Minutes 10-11-18 and 10-16-18. - Amy reported that these were not ready yet, so we will save them for the next meeting. ●Future Agenda Items: ○Jeanette mentioned that work was underway on the new facing for the library steps and that we should all take a look prior to the next meeting, to make sure they match what we expected and approved this summer. ●Next meeting date: ○Thursday, Nov 1 at 7:00 PM, HCAM Studios (77 Main St) -Public Forum 6:19 PM Adjournment ​​- Motion to Adjourn made by Beth Watson seconded Melanie Smith. ​VOTE: Yes 5, No 0, Abstain 0 Respectfully submitted, Amy Ritterbusch, Chair Approved on Date: 11/29/18
