Savannah Beach,Tybee Island, Ga.
September 15th, 1933.
A speciallmeeting of Council wasyheld to -day at 11:00 A.M., and
Was attended by Mayor Lewis, who presided, and Co_ncilmen Logan,
Sharpley and Blumenthal and Righton.
Petition of J.N.Glover for refund of 25.00 paid by him for
non - intoxicating beverage license. Moved and seconded that
petition be granted, Motion passed.
Petition of Mrs.F.A.Von Eberstein for refund of $25.00 for
license for opeaating a dining room. Moved and seconded that
petition be refused, motion passed.
The Board of Education thru Mrs. Willis Heard requested that
the Town add another room to the present cottage occupied by
the school - teacher, it was decided that the request could not
be granted at this time.
The rental charge of the school- teachers cottage was fixed at
75.00 for the season just passed with the understanding that
it would have no bearing on the charge for rent next summer.
The Treasurer was instructed to collect this charge.
Discussion was had relative to the closing of the streets be-
tween Butler Avenue and the Strand, it was moved and seconded
that all posts blocking off vehicles from using the Streets
be removed, motion passed. The Chairman of the Police Committee
was requestd tp have the necessary signs painted and placed
where needed.
Councilman Logan said that he thought that some of the old
hose discarded by the City could be utilized by the Town to
fight fires, he was requested to ascertain what could be done about
getting some of this old hose for the on the island.
The Town At qEney informed Council that he had two damage suits
placed withtty attorneys for clients who had suffeeed damages
caused by the bad condition of the streets, one for Sam Goldberg
and the other by I. Sassen.
To fill the vacancy 'caused by the death of Chief D.Lysaught,
Lieut A.L.Hildrehh was appointed Chief of Police at a salary
of j 100.00 per month, to hold office at pleasure of the Mayor
and Councilmen, on motion made and seconded and passed.
On motion made and seconded W.F.Lingenfelser was appointed
policeman at a salary of 60.00 per month at the pleasure of
the Mayor and Councilmen.
Councilman Logan was requested to employ Mr. W.F.Benet at the
toll gate on the week -ends and was authorized to make arrange-
ments as to salary.
On motion made and seconded and passed the salary of Chief
D.Lysaught for the month of September was ordered paid to his
daughter,Mrs. M.E.Sumner.

On motion seconded and passed the.foliwing resolution was
adopted;
RESOLUTION.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., in meeting assembled, at
which said meeting more than a majority of the councilmen were
present that the report submitted at said meeting by H.F.Sharp-
ley, engineer, showing surverys and other details far the ex-
tension of the parking space provided for automobiles upon that
portion of the publkce domain of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island,
Ga., known as the Strand, to be consumated through the success-
ful application of this municipality by funds derived from the
Industrial Recovery Corporation, or suclil other govermental
agency, as may have jurisdiction thereof, be and the same are
hereby approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the Town of Savannah
:each, Tybee Island, Ga., is hereby authorized, empowered and
vested to pursue the recommendations of H.F.Sharpley, engineer,
and to do all within his power to obtain from the Industrial
Recovery Corpantion or suct other govemental agency as may have
the power to grant the necessary funds, and accomplish the
recommendations of said H.F.Sharpley, engineer, and the Mayor of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., is hereby further vested
with full discretion, as to,the proceedure in the matte;, and
shall do all things and pay any and all expenses and employ
such agents as may, in his discretion, he necessary or proper
to bring about quick realization of the matters herein recom-
mended.
BE IT FURTHER RE.S)LVED that all auras spent or directed to
be spent by said Mayor innthe furtherance of this authority
are hereby appropriated from the general funds of this muni-
cipality to be disbursed by the Treasurer of this municipality
upon proper voucher of said Mayor.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the report of H.F.Sharpley,
engineer, be and the same is hereby male a part of this re-
solution and along herewith shall be spread opon the minutes
of said municipality.

On motion seconded and passed, the following resolution was d
adopted;
RESOLUTION.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., in meeting assembled, at
which meeting more thanes majority of the councilmen were present
that the report of H.F.Shprpley, engineer, showing surveys and
other details in connectionwith the proposed application of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., to. the Industrial Recovery
Corporation, or such other govermental agency as may have
jurisdiction thereof, for funds for the extention of the parking

space provided for automobiles upon that portion of the public
domain of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga., known as the Strand
and which proposed extension is known as project number 1, be
and the same is hereby approved and adopted as an act of this
Council, and the Mayor of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga.,
is hereby authorized and empowered and d rected to take such
steps as may be necessary in filing formal application on
behalf of this municipality for the purpose of having said funds
available for this project, and, in this connection, said Mayor
is hereby invested with full discretion to act in the premises
and he is hereby authorized to employ such agents, make suck
expenditures and enter such contracts as will make possible
the quick presentation of the application firm project number 1,
and all sums spent or directed to be spent by said Maporto be
spent in the futherance of this authority are hereby app -ro-
priated from the general funds of this municipality to be
disbursed by the Treasurer of this municipality upom proper
voucher by said Mayor.

October 6th, 1933.
The regular meeting of Council was held -to -day at 4:00 p.m. and
was attended by Mayor Lewis, who presided, and Councilmen Logan,
Blumenthal,Sharpley,Cann,and Righton and Town Attorney McIntyre,
and Messrs.D.J.Sheehan Carl Espy and Dr. R.V.Harris.
Dr. Harris and Messrs Shehan and Espy protested against the
opening of -the streets adjacent to their property leading to the
Strand by the removing of the obstructions placed thereon, they
petitioned that the pots placed in the various streets be per-
mitted to remain as they had a tendency to minimize the annoyances
and inconveniences caused by some autommbilists using same. the
gentlemen were excused.
The minutes of the meeting of September lath were read and adopted.
Discussion was had on the petitions of Dr. Harris and Messrs.
Espy and Sheehan relative to the oeen?.ng of streets and on motion
made and seconded it was moved that any posts or obstructions placed
on any street between Better Avenue and the Strand be located at
the head of the street near the Strand. Motion passed.
Mr. J.H.Swindell filed protest against the treatment accorded a
negro convict in the Recorders Court recently, he claiming; that
te man dicl not have a fair trial. The matter was referred to the
Mayor f.;r handling.
Mayor Gamble requested that Mayor Lewis.appoint a committee to
meet with him next Monday mornin, relative to the application
with the Federal Goverment for aid to build the proposed bulkhead
on the Strand.
The Clerk was instruced to issue executiond against the Tybee
Amusement Co., J.A.Bergman and H.T .Stanford fer balance due on
1933 licenses.

October 24th, 1933.
A special meeting of Council was held to -day at 11: a.ri., and
was attended by Mayor Lewis,who )resided, and Councilmen Sharpley,
Blumenthal,Logan and Cann, and Town Attorney McIn yre.
Discussion was had relative to the submitting of a bid for the
fire engine to be auctioned off at ,ort Screven and on motion
made ani seconded, an offer of 76.50 and the Treasurer be
authorized to pay this amount in the eveent that the Town is
the sucessful bidder. The motion passed.'

the call of the Mayor.

November 3r:i, 1933.
The regular meeting of Council was held to -day at 4:00 p.m.
and was attended bu Mayor , who presided, and Councilmen Cann,
Demere and Blumenthal, Town Attorney McIntyre and Mr. J.P.Miiler.
Mr. Miller petitioning for Mrs. Miller, for allowaince of dis-
count on taxes for the years 1930,31,32,33,34, due by her to
the Town. Referred to Finance Committee.
The minutes f the meetings of September 1st and October 6th
and October,, ere read and adopted.
It was decided to have a representative of the Seagrave Corpn.,
inspect tl-Je fire engine recently purchased and ascertain what
parts were needed for it.
The Clerk was instructed to issue executions against the
Tybee Amusement Co., J.A.Bergman and H.LT. Stanford for non-
payment of licenses.
It was noted that the beach erosion board of the .federal gov-
erment was coming to Savannah Beach to make ati tmape ction of
the island.
