A special meeting of Council was held to -day at 11 :a.m.,and was attended by Mayor Lewis, who presided, and Councilmen Cann, Logan and Blumenthal and Chief Hildreth and Officer.W.F.Lin- •genfelser. • Mrs. W.J.Bowen having filed complaint about the use of and damage to her car by Chief Hildreth and Mr. Lingenfelser, The Chief was asked what he knew about it, he informed Council that he had never used Mrs.Bowens car, Mr. Lingenfelser said that he had used it, had damaged it and was willing to pay for the damages. Chief Hildreth and Mr. Lingenfelser were excused. The matter was referred to the Police Committee. The Mayor informed Co-i.ncil that the PWA had turned down the Towns application for federal aid to construct the parking space extension. The sense of the meeting was that the Town could not issue any additional bonds to cover the cost of the project. It was moved and seconded that a suitable letter be drafted and sent to Atlanta explaining the inability of the Town to issue bonds and requesting that the matter be reconsidered. the motion passed. A special meeting of Council was held to -day at 11:a.,in theCity Hall of the City of Savannah, and was attended by T .ayor Lewis, who presided, and Councilmen Cann, Demere and Logan and Mr. Cletus Bergen. Councilman Logan informed Council that as it was possible for the Town to get financial assistance in repairing its buildings under the PWA, he had asked. Mr. Bergen to appear before the meeting and explaii what service he would ren- der in connection with the application. He agreed to draw plans,make survey, draw up specifications and supervise construction for 5' of the aost, ?•providethrthat the Town was successful in obtaining the money from the PWA, be to be 25,00 for. It was moved and seconded that the work be done by Mr. Bergen and that ) 25.00 be a•Trgri- ated from the Town Treasury for the purpose. The motion passed. Council was informed that it had a g_,od chance to get assistance in the project for widening Butler Avenue from First to Sixteenth street if a representative of the Town could be sent to Atlanta and confer with Judge Rourke and present the a plic•ation. The regular meeting of Council was held to -day at :00p.m. and was attended by Mayor Lewis, who presided, and Councilmen Logan,Ri4hton,Blumenthal and Cann and Mr. Cletus W.Bergen. In connectio# with the Towns application for federal aid for repairing murlcipal buildings Mr. Bergen NECK presented the specifications and estimates on the Jail,Town Hall,Sehool- teachers cottage and the cottage of the Chief of Police he also adviseithat they were in proper form to turn over to the CWA administrator. Ir Bergen was excused. The minutes of the meetings of November 3rd and 14th were read and adopted. A vote of thanks was tendered to Councilman Logan for his efforts and interest in getting the several CWA projects through. The Clerk was instructed to request the return of the three copies of the application for the extension of the parking space, as the application had been turned down by the PWA. The Finance Committee reported that it had been unable to obtain a loan from the several banks that had been approached.
